That game at 6-6! :sobbing: Kimiko would have won the match if she took her game point  Still a great effort from her, she clearly belongs in main draws of slams again.

Kaia :yeah:

I am thinking about how Kimiko would have done if she played Ana today :tape:

Kimi, you might have lost but you are still a wonder and a brilliant player and woman. How many 38 year olds have kept going for 170 mins? You are a legend.

Dave.

Why weird?

Kimiko let the last ball go expeciting it to be called out but it wasn't.

Kanepi hit a slow ball that just clipped the line. Kimiko thought it was out so she just left the ball even though it was right in front of her.

Such a good fight Kimiko, you deserve to be in the Top 70!

So Disrespectful

What a shame to lose like that in the third, but Kimiko has proven herself beyond anyone's expectations.

Kanepi is my least favourite player for the day!

Poor Kimiko, if she won that match she would have had Mayr in the second round!!! :(

Still..could not be more amazed at what she has achieved. Should be back in the top 100 soon enough if she keeps it going.

:sobbing: I thought she had it when she saved the 2 MPs and then broke.

She would have beaten Mayr for sure in R2 and been in 3rd round of her first Slam back :(

drake3781
Jan 19th, 2009, 03:10 AM
What will this do to her ranking!?! I'll check it myself but if anyone knows... she gets points for her three Qualies wins plus maybe 1 pt for the 1R match.

Renalicious
Jan 19th, 2009, 03:10 AM
She had Mayr in the 2nd round if she won. :o

Hope Kimiko plays more WTA events though now!

Her BH is just as good as ones from the top 10 to be honest. It's beautiful. Her serve is the big letdown.

Surviving in that heat at the age of 38, i'd say she deserves the timeout. Don't you?

Nice effort Kimiko! Really didn't expect you to push Kanepi that much! This should be a nice confidence booster. :yeah:

I don't think I can even find a word to say how amazing I think Kimiko is. Honestly I didn't think Kimiko could stay with Kanepi, who is after all a hard hitting young top 30 player. But stay with her, she did. If there was any doubt, and there was, that Kimiko could play at top 100 level there isn't anymore. Kimiko really showed in this match she could actually handle herself on the main tour.

All that said, I am just crushed that we have all been denied our magnificent story book ending. :bigcry:

I am not disappointed in Kimiko, far from it. I am overwelmed with respect and admiration for her. But I am so so so disappointed in this final result. :awww:

Well, both groundstrokes were solid. Her power of course isn't what she's famous for, today she really showed that angles, touch and intelligence are timeless. If she keeps working on her game I seriously think she'll be contending for GS 3rd or 4th rounds.

Becuase your post was undeserved sour grapes and seemed an attempt to spoil a groundswell of admiration for Kimiko.

The question returned to you was whether you call out other players whom you might favor, on bigger transgressions.

Is that not clear to you or are you being obtuse?

No need to respond.

So what do we know of Kimiko's plans? Does she have to go back to the ITF circuit for a while? I've got to figure her new ranking, but would still have to compare to entry lists.

double standards. you're the first to criticise players unless it's one of your favourites in which case you seem blissfully unaware.

i should remember that since you update the rankings you can get away with anything.

I was there and it was such a great match. I am so proud of Kimiko and how she matched it with a top 30 player, also withstanding the extreme heat (it was almost unbearable, and I wasn't even playing). I hope she will continue to play more WTA events and Slams as she definitely deserves to be in the top 100.
