julia is just as useless so its no suprise, i guess you could call it reward for obvious hard work mayr puts in.

Julia had some really impressive wins in the qualifying and then this? :o

I know nothing about Mayr. Can someone explain why a lot of people here give her grief?

She's been playing almost exclusively in 25Ks/50Ks to boost her ranking in 2008. Smart strategy, if you ask me.

Because of that, she did not beat one single top 100 player in 2008. But now she is in the second round of a Slam, so good for her.

The only Top 100 she beatet in her whole carrer was Olga Puchkova. :tape:
Then some former Top 100 players like De Los Rios and Martina Müller. Arvidsson & Schnyder in Exhibition. :tape:

I certainly don't regard myself as a Mayr hater, I have never had any objections, for instance, to Patricia being in the draw, but yeah, you can call me a Mayr non-believer, based on the fact that she has only that one top 100 victory in her entire career.

I'm still not convinced of Patricia's ability to win matches at this level although this was certainly a very good start. Maybe I'm wrong about her and once she starts playing more at a higher level she will naturally raise her game. This does happen sometimes.

That said, pretty disheartening result for Schruff. She couldn't have asked for a better draw and to do so little with it really does make one wonder what it will take for Julia to add to her five 1st round Grand Slam victories. Schruff has had several very good Grand Slam victories in the past so I suppose her fans can always hope that she will be able to once again raise her level to what it was three years ago and she is still young enough that this is possible I suppose.

Wow. Did not see this coming. I thought that Schruff, with three wins under her belt, would ease past Mayr.

Full credit to the Austrian though.

Good for Mayr. Nice to see the underdog win.
Who'd thought she'd be the only Austrian into the second round?

Lucky draw for Patricia, nice to see her climb her taking over Muller's spot in the top 100 as the worst player there ;)

Well Mayr is ranked higher than Schruff, so I'm not sure that this is really a bombshell :)
