View Full Version : What's going on with Ana's serve?

Why is she having trouble with the ball toss?? injury or just nerves?

Nerves I guess. She hasn't looked comfortable on court since Roland Garros.

When Ana's nervous, the ball toss is the first thing to go. See RG 07 vs. Justine. It was all over the place.

Technique too... she's not releasing the ball correctly.

The mental side of her game has gone to pieces. Seems like she's got no confidence.

The serve is definetly off. Her balltoss is 0_0 she looks like a an elenaD 2004 serving right now. It definetly strikes me the most, that her serve has gone this bad. 0_0 I hope it's just because it's a first round and that she can pick it up... but it doesn't look likely, there's just too many things off that can't be fixes in a few days.

But it's not just the serve, it's way more then that.
-Her footwork. She's way off, not positioning herself well on the court at all. Not in a good position and when goerges puts even a little extra pace on the ball she's on the backfoot and can't do anything more then hit balls halfcourt. Lucky for her, somehow goerges keeps missing all the halfcourt balls.
-Timing on the forehand. She's not hitting through the ball at all, it's not a weapon right now. Just a neutral shot, she just hardly gets any pace on it. Goerges forehand looks like a deatshot compared to hers.
-Netgame, lets just say it's non-existent.

The only good thing i can say is that her backhand is stable and that she look fit. But being fit is not gonna help you if your technique declined to a top50 player level. Get a coach quick, or you're doomed! :help:

Whatever it is it needs to be fixed. I haven't seen a ball toss this bad in a while

she releases the ball way to early when throwing it up, it is really frustrating to watch her catch the ball ywice at least every time she serves.

She needs to start apologising for it! It is getting out of hand. I know it's not on purpose but she just has to say sorry

Holds. Finally. :o

Lucky hold i might add. At 40/40 Goerges hit a ball on the line, then linejudge calls out and corrects herself, replay the point.

Then goerges is off and starts hitting ana's 150km/h serves in the bottem of the net. :o
What an abysmal match :scared:

Ana is painful to watch right now :o. If she plays like this, she will not be around in AO'09 much longer.

She's been throwing like this in the Brisbane tournament as well. I think it may be her lack of confidence, all but gone since Wimbledon.

Even in Brisbane, it wasn't this bad. Sure she was having some troubles there too, but I think the points she's defending and this being a Slam even adds to her bad play/pressure.

Reminds me of Capriati's ball toss.
