#1 Elena Dementieva -Positives: Are you awake? Won Aukland and Sydney. And a little thing called the Olympics
Negatives: Plays Venus in the QFS. Venus has beaten her every time they played on clay. Of course Dementieva has beaten Venus, but the confience factor favors Venus.
#1 Venus Williams -Positives: Ended 2008 winning Zurich and YEC, was really good in public practice (Hong Kong)
Negatives: last two loses were to Jankovic and Pennatta, both of whom she'll have to beat
After those two, you get a lot of players who's main advantage is that they won't have to face Demetieva AND Venus.

#3 JankovicPositives: Yo! Who's #1
Negative: Confidence against Venus questionable. She's never won the big one. Her level of play is consistently high, but never goes higher in the big match match. She's a better looking Ivan Lendl. (Only one of the greatest players of all time, but you get my point.)
#3 Serena Positives: Already won the tournament three times. Best player since Graf.
Negatives; Fat
#3 SafinaPositives: is playing as well as she ever has
Negatives: is playing as well as she ever has, and is still losing to elite players
#6 IvanovicPositives: made last year's final, has won a slam
Negatives: is playing like dreck
#7 ZvonarevaPositives: Is playing the best tennis of her life
Negatives: inferior genetics

 Interesting.. although Venus and Jankovic have a great chance not to play each other, being on opposite halves

You just had to pile the jinxes on Lena, didn't you?

I think I'm going to have to settle for my second fave winning. Not that that's so bad. ;)

Last i checked Ivan the great had 8 slams and 270 weeks at number one. Don't disrespect him like that.

Like Snoop says, "Ivan Lendl was the truth."

So true.

Last i checked Ivan the great had 8 slams and 270 weeks at number one. Don't disrespect him like that.Didn't I refer to him as 'Only one of the greatest players of all time'?

Lendl was obviously WAY better, but the 'plays exactly the same under pressure' critique is, I think, accurate.
