A couple of pointers:

*Why the FUCK must this guy bring Andy Murray into EVERYTHING. This isn't even the ATP. :weirdo:
*Maybe i've been looking at a completely different draw, but the top half of the draw is NOT the competitive half.
*The Australian Open is in MELBOURNE, not sydney...
*Venus and Serena aren't one person. :weirdo:
*Stop hyping up Wozniacki. I swear she hasn't even won a tier II yet or gotten past the 4th round of a GS.
*Mel South got in on merit, not a w/c

New Haven was a Tier II :)

'Technically she's a better player than Venus in so many ways'.

I can only think of one example where Serena is technically better and that's the serve. Intangibles aside, he's talking crap:lol:

LOL. How can anyone take seriously an article that measures how JJ and the others stack up against the "best the Brits have to offer"?

No offense meant to friends across the Pond, but if a British gal wins this tourney I'll eat MY cat.

JJ has a 'clear advantage' over Serena? She does!? Maybe she has an easier draw, that's about it.
JJ didn't 'miss' Hong Kong. She pulled out after a doubles match and a singles match.

There are dozens of posters on this board who could do a better write up of the tournament.

Pretty bad, but it can never be as bad as the ESPN articles. :smash: Still, pretty much any fan could write a ebtter one.

Well founded criticisms, but to make two points

The top half of the draw IS the competitive half. Unless Serena magically overcomes the extra twenty (or thirty) pounds she lugging around, the winner of the Venus-Dementieva match is going to the final. As for Wozniacki, you've spent enough time around this forum to know that a lot of people are fans of female players based on looks, not ability

Lol Wozniacki's not hot at all. And I don't think Serena's overweight. YEs losing some pounds would be beneficial but I think she can do some damage no matter what. But he's basically saying that its a top heavy draw when really Janko and co. should easily make it to the QFs and SFs.

I can't take him seriously if he thinks the AO is in Sydney. :rolls:

He's useless. He may have knowledge on the mens' game I don't know, but he knows fuck all about the WTA, and for some reason he ended up commentating on the women's final at Wimbledon. :o

I think some people here would be better commentators than the professional ones too.

What an idiot!!!

"Elena Dementieva, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva would also be in that group along with Wozniacki and Ivanovic, despite her problems, but Safina would be the top one in that group after the way she reached the French Open final."

Whaaaaat???

How can anybody put Dementieva with Kuznetsova, Zvonareva and Wozniacki in one line these days???
For crying out loud - the girl just won three of the last four tournaments she participated in!
Kuzy hasn't won a title on a normal basis since Beijing 2006, Zvonareva hasn't got any Tier 2 (or above) titles to her name and Wozniacki isn't even in the Top 10!

Who agreed to post his so called article???

Agree with everything you said!

One profile on two Williams sisters?! :help::o

Plus, I know he's a Brit, but honestly Keothavong and South shouldn't be up there with the big ones, plus South got in by direct entry and O'Brien and Baltacha also are in so the :weirdo: should at least include them :o

Mark Petchey is a complete turd  Lumping both Venus and Serena together as if they are one just shows a complete lack of respect to both women. I won't even bother mentioning all the mistakes in his article.

Lol, Serena loses one match really badly and suddenly puts on two stone?

Neither Venus nor Dementieva are guaranteed to get to the quarters. They will have to play well, and if they do get there, the match will be far more competitive than anything in the top half. I would expect Serena vs. Kuzzy to be competitive as usual, should they both make it. It would also be interesting to see if Aga could make more of an impression on Serena this time, should they happen to meet in the quarters. Also I think FatRena is going to put up a fight to whoever she plays in the semis more so than Jankovic when she gets beaten by Safina. She quarters or the final are where Serena gets beaten badly, not the semis..

I despise Mark Petchey and Andrew Castle the most. Cowan and Rusedski at least appear as though they might be reasonably decent people in their ordinary lives, whereas Petchey has a face I'd never tire of pummelling.

Andrew Castle should stick to GMTV, no in fact he should be banned from TV altogether. Even Ben Shepard is better than him now.

Mark Petchey just reads a few statistics and converts it to his own opinion. He's always been useless and lacking in knowledge, as well as being very arrogant and opinionated. I guess the fact he spent about 5 weeks in the top 100 makes him an expert.

Lol no, I dont think he was saying that they are contenders, just summing up their chances. And I think this was probably written before the other two qualified...

He's talking about the brits cos we actually have 2 in the draw now. He's not saying they are going to win.

There might be a lot of cat/rat eating here if Laura Robson manages to win a slam within the next 10 years.

oh forgot to add I hate Mark Petchey aswell he talks bullshit 24/7. can't belive he gets paid to write that. I'll take that job.
