Although I love the gorgeous blue of the new plexicushion courts, I cant help but remember the classic matches played on the controversial Rebound ace. Just think back to the classics, Capriati vs Hingis, Serena vs Hingis and the Sharapova vs Serena, just to name a few.

The only memorable match of last year was the Sharapova vs Henin Quarter. And that was a 6-4 6-0 scoreline!! Anyone else missing the green hard stuff??

It's only been one year, the matches you said before were from 3 different years.
I do miss the Rebound Ace though.

I've always said that rebound ace with the blue colour of the plexicushion would be perfect!

I'm sure the players don't. That stuff was HOT. Playing tennis on rubber in 100+ temps is insane.

I miss the Rebound Ace - last year, couldn't get used to seeing that new blue court, didn't feel like the Aus Open :o I much preferred the old green courts....know it sounds silly, but it always felt so exciting....now, with the blue, doesn't feel the same

Yeah I know in that heat it was tough on the players with the Rebound Ace..but, it was more interesting for the viewers!!

Tournament doctors also miss old Rebound Ace surface.
Now they is not so important part of AO tournament.

Yeah, I guess that is true. Not nearly so many twisted ankles.

Yeah I bet the doctors and ONLY the doctors truly miss that stuff.

As a tennis fan no I don't miss it. Watching players getting their shoes stuck on it or nearly passing out from the hotness of the surface, or twisting their ankle like Kim Clijsters did in 2006, was no fun for me(or the players I bet.)

I miss the Rebound ace, Serena's second serve looked amazing with that kick having more spin on it, always soo beautiful.

I dont like the new plexicushion surface, although I do like the colour. I dont know if its just me but the courts seem a lot slower and requires a lot more effort to hit a winner.

I always thought the ball went through the court faster on Rebound Ace and the matches, for me, were always more enjoyable (Clijsters-Sharapova 2007 ), but I love the new color.

Are you crazy? That ugly blue with the sticky courts?

The perfect mix for me would be green plexicushion courts. ;):p

I miss the Rebound Ace, since it reminds me of Hingis and Seles :(

I'm willing to give the new courts a chance though. I just hope that this year's AO has a lot of entertaining matches...at the end of the day, that's all I care about.

I also don't like the Vodafone Arena being renamed to Hisense Arena:help:

I'm sure the Career Conman does, as his cash machine's left kick serve (especially from the deuce court) got a big boost from it. Poor Patty.

LOL.

You do realize, don't you, that the last time Australia was truly relevant as a tennis nation--with players like Hoad, Rosewall, Laver, Emerson, Newcombe, Roche, Court et al--the Aussie Open was played on GRASS?

Rafter and Hewitt excepted, of course.

I don't know, I love the vibrant blue. It gets me more excited about the Aussie Open than usual.

The color is no doubt amazing. But I like the rebound ace. It was an authentic australian product for a major australian tournament. I miss it alot.
