Serena in two. I hope to see the last of Serena's rust fall away during the first set of this match. I think the first set will be tight enough but the second set will be quite comfortable.

More like Sara in One.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ree Ree retires in the first-set against a pusher who she won't be able to make winners against. >_>

if serena can straight set you easily on clay there's not much hope on quicker surfaces

Serena in 2, yes she almost lost the other day but she was also 2 points from winning in straight sets. That's tennis sometimes, it doesn't mean Serena is THAT rusty. Plus Stosur is a much better player than Errani :tape:

I'm not sure if Serena will finish Sydney?
She might retire or withdraw sooner or later...

She should win this match in 2 easy sets anyway!

Is Serena injured? Why all this talk of Serena not finishing the tournament and withdrawing from her match???

BuTtErFrEnA
Jan 12th, 2009, 10:23 PM
so she can go play AO... she's not injured...people think she's just here to get a couple matches then go to melbourne

This might not be the walkover everyone is predicting. Sydney courts are some of the slowest out there, and Errani will thrive on slow, high-bouncing conditions. She can take the ball deceptively early then and move Serena into tricky angles on court. That said though, if Serena plays 40% better than against Stosur, she should be pretty comfortable. She has the firepower alone to beat Errani, plus that serve which as we know is extremely reliable.

Errani's tough though and her game has come on alot. If Serena is still shackled in rust, it will not be an easy match. However i still expect Serena to come through in 2, with a scoreline of 6-3 6-4 perhaps

Ahhhh, okay. She might as well stay and play in Sydney to get match tough. Plus why not go for the title and get the confidence for the real title (at Melbourne)

I think it's because the roadmap will force Serena to play more tournaments this year than she's ever played in any single year in her career and so people think Serena will have a few "shock" early round losses/retirements/walkovers in some of the tournaments she plays this year.

Even if she retires at one point or another during the tournament, she cannot allow herself to lose or to give Errani a victory.:tape:

Stosur >>> Errani >>> Dellacqua = Serena in two sets.
