Overall Record: 14-6

She's won her last 8 in a row, and hasn't lost a third-set tiebreak since her fantastic choke against Hantuchova from match point up in 2002 Zurich. She's 5-0 in such matches at the US Open, which is the most remarkable statistic of all. This includes wins over Osterloh (in her break-out US Open run), Mauresmo, Capriati, Chakvetadze, and Davenport. Also, one of her only two wins against Venus Williams came in a third-set tiebreak.

Even without a big serve, she is unstoppable when it gets deep in a match! :D

I am not shocked at that since she is strong mentally and has an all-around game(minus serve).

I remember the 2004 USO. Those were draining. She needed 2 days of rain to delay the final

Dawson.

Whenever it goes to a final set tiebreak with dementieva, I could easily switch off, knowing that she will win it. It was first pointed out to me by eurosport commentators at the 2005 USO against Chakvetadze. She hasn't lost one since! Quite an amazing record.

Mentally strong? the offical bridesmaid of the tour (before Kuznetsova took her place that is)

and yes her ground game is good, but usually the person with the best serve wins tie-breaks actually....

Elena becomes a human wall when it comes down to a 3rd set.

She's an exception to that rule because she is so skilled, talented, and determined!

Elena is simply the most amazing and awesome person ever.

I am not shocked at that since she is strong mentally and has an all-around game(minus serve).

For a player so mentally strong in final set tiebreaks, the amount of big matches she has lost from commanding positions is shocking. Myskina at Wimbledon 2005 , Safina at Roland Garros 2008 and her 2 abysmal grand slam finals are just a few examples.

Doesn't Hantuchova have a really good record too?

I'm more surprised by the quality of her rivals when she lost in 3rd set TBs :tape:
