View Full Version : Samantha Stosur's Ultimate Aim...to piss off OZTENNIS

I can't believe that she could choke away such a lead. Serena wasn't even trying for half of the last set. She was up 3-6 7-6 5-4 40-0 and couldn't get a frigging first serve in. Then she had a fourth match point up Ad-40 and missed a sitting volley. Is she really that good a doubles player. It was a fu*&ing woeful miss. Then she plays another couple of shit games and loses a match she should have won. Not the first time she lost a match like this and definitely won't be the last. No emotion, no fire. Flat as a tack...PATHETIC

Am rethinking my favourite players now, I don't know that I can put up with such embarassments again :o

She doesn't even know you.

yes, she was NOT mentally strong..at ALL :o:o:o

same thing happened with Jelena vs Mauresmo in parts of their match with her serve being her achille heal (no intended pun) on big moments...

but nonetheless iim sure Jelena will take away positives, and so will sam...gheez Sam really showed us she belongs in the top 20, no doubt.

Sam is becoming a fine singles player :)!

I'm sure she feels worse than you do :)

Sometimes when you're in a winning position your arms become jelly and there's nothing you can do to make that ball go in. She fucked up royally. She knows it, but let's move on and wish her the best for Melbourne. She needs all the support she can get.

Please correct me if im wrong... but it seems so much harder to play against a player who is not putting in the effot in rallies and just going for hit or miss shots... is it?

and i think sam showed that she belongs with the top players (maybe not with the top 5 but top 20), especially in the second set!!! Some of the best tennis i saw sam play.

I was pissed off before as well. But after looking back at how well she played I am kind of feeling better. Looking at the positives I guess. If you look at just set 1 and 2 she was playing really well and took a set from a Serena who was playing well and trying.

The third set I will try and forget about from now on. I guess she did good staying composed even though Serena was going for broke, then not trying and doing all her weird shit.

I just hope this loss doesn't affect her to badly. I want to see both players interviews.

UUHHHH its just depressing. It was a golden opportunity for Sammy to get the biggest win of her career - in front of a home crowd.

Hope she (unlike me) can find the positives and be 100% physically (and more importantly) mentally for the Open

Sam deserves to die. She choked most of those important points

It was really depressing to witness even though I was cheering for Serena

She was playing Serena Williams. She would not have been the only player to falter.

Serena did nothing to win the break back Sam choked there's no doubt about it. But look at it this way no one would be feeling any worse than Sam herself. I've seen Sam do this on several occasions and until she gets mentally stronger then she isn't going to take the next step up the ranking. Which is a shame as she has the talent to do if not the mental strength.

It was a massive choke no doubt, Sam would make that volley on match point 99 out of 100 times but the pressure got to her.

However i did not expect Sam to be in a winning position in the match, especially after only winning 2 games at the olympics. Sam played so well in the second set and showed the form she can produce. Hope she can take the positives from the match as it was a good display from Sam until she had the match points.

I think it's just hard to put away Serena.

Moreso perhaps than any player, you feel the need to serve out the match against her because she can bring her serve so crucially when it's crunch time. But at the same time, she has such a big return that you want to go for so much that she ends up seeing more 2nd serves than she might otherwise get in a normal game. You have to be very mentally on to handle that situation.

I wouldn't hold it against her too much, guys. Missed opportunity, but she's hardly the first.

this is women that were talking about they can't handle pressure and nerves as well as men ok. This is a bigger improvement and she really should work on her mental game and i hope it improves where it matters most in the Aus open. Now shes ranked 46 in the world.
