Why is isn't she in Sidney? SF to defend... Anyway after what I saw in Brisbane I doubt she will win against Jie if they were to meet

i agree it would be better to see her in sydney because she has played so well there of the last 2 or 3 years but i think at the moment because shes not in such great form it will be good for her to play some of these lower level tournaments to get some form and hopfully confidence back and then she can start playing the bigger tournaments again. so good luck in hobart nicole :D

Nicole needs a win in two quite easy sets so she can gain some confidence..

I think she will; Santangelo is a good matchup for her (abysmal ROS, just about the only player whose footwork is worse than Nicole's right now).

I think she will. Tennis is her job : money. Or Stepanek and her have thought about a way to still be rich with only one player left in the circuit.

I saw her matchs in Auckland. Fact is, she may not have worked a lot during the off season. Or if she did, that's more worrying. She has no physical anymore. Without that, she's not going to start winning anytime soon. I don't think she wants to make big sacrifices for her career anymore either.

Her serve is now worse than ever, without it she'll beat nobody, not even scrubs.

Good thing there wasn't any livestream for this match.
There are few things more depressing than watching Nicole play these days.

By the way, could someone please explain why the WTA website is using a picture of Nicole to promote the new TennisTv website? :cuckoo:

It's not the serve in itself, though its overall reliability is of course lower. Nicole's 1st serve still wins some free points here and there. The real problem is Nicole's lazyness and lack of sharpness and the way it affects her service games. If her 1st serve doesn't win her the point outright, the ensuing rally begins with her almost always on the defensive, as the return tends to find her out of position because she couldn't be bothered to move her feet after serving. She isn't using her serve to set up the points.

But this is all immaterial anyway.

She isn't using her serve to set up the points.
That's what was on my mind, I should have ellaborated.
Most of the rallies after Nicole's 1st serve start at roughly 50:50 as who is likely to win it, which isn't the way to beat her opponent of course.
