Injury forces Dokic out of Hobart
AAP Friday 9 January 2009

Jelena Dokic has withdrawn from the Moorilla Hobart International.

Tournament director Michael Roberts says Dokic - who was due to play her first qualifying match today - has withdrawn with an achilles injury.

Dokic was looking to continue her preparations for this

I just read it on hobart´s site too -_-

UGH i really hope she plays the open. If this turns into classic dokic, showing up in australia for 3 matches and do NOTHING the rest of the year it's really lame. :o

Its just a precaution, don't stress fans, she will play Aust Open, even if its to play 1 game and retire so she gets her pay cheque!

Interesting quote from a foxsports article:

"It's obviously very disappointing when you have a player and you do a bit of build up and the amount of media she's got and the amount of interest she carries and unfortunately her coach has pulled her out"

thought that was quite interesting!

Everyone is being overly critical. Any other player would probably withdraw as well if it were the week before a slam. She is not going to disappear. I think it is obvious that she is for real this time because she has gotten herself into great shape and she spent last year getting herself back into the Top 200.
Unfortunately, her ranking is really going to suffer because of this. Lets just hope its nothing serious and that she gets a kind draw at the Open. If she plays at the level she did against Amelie I think she can win a match or two.
