What it says on the tin, if you'd like to be a manager choose your tournament here! :p

So basically repeating what Lacy said in the other thread we'd prefer posters with FITD experience (i.e. a few months playing) and know about the scoring etc.

It's pretty easy to do the scoring but it is quite time consuming (especially Grand Slams :help:) so please only sign up if you really want to/or can. Of course if for whatever reason you can't run your tournament PM either crazylace01, Uranium, Equipped, Yarden or myself ASAP and we can sort something out!

So here are all the tournaments for the rest of the year!

Grand Slams are especially hard work (1st & 2nd rounds are proper nightmares! :tape: ) so ideally two people should run them.

5th Oct
Beijing (Mandatory): adner

12th Oct
Linz (International): SVK
Osaka (International): Yarden

19th Oct
Moscow (Premier): Vz.Chy
Luxembourg (Istanbul): Ivanovic Fan!!!!

26th Oct
Year End Championships - Doha: watchdogfish

2nd Nov
Year End Championships - Bali: libre83

As for IW, I have exam in the second week of that tournament so Kate, Would you be able to help me?

No I sort out the rankings each week cos I have all the info for it on my computer. All you have to is open the tournament thread and count the scores after each round. I'll give you first shout on Stanford :p

What about Strasbourg??... and Warsaw??? I can do it!

I have a question:

For example:

Azarenka is playing 1st round in Dubai, but withdraws and his replace by a LL or someonelse. From then on, do you count the points like if it was Azarenka who was playing???

crazylace01
Feb 4th, 2009, 12:36 AM
umm start with one please. we'll go from there.

and if azarenka was a seed, withdrew before play began, and people sent edited picks then you'd score them appropriately.

if not, if everyone picked azarenka to win, it's considered a wrong pick and no points are awarded.

Justin SW
Feb 4th, 2009, 12:45 AM
Thank You; i was just confused with the Brisbane case with nomination of a 9th seed and so many main draw changes. If someone didnot edited his picks, i guess first rule applies?

crazylace01
Feb 4th, 2009, 02:02 AM
that is correct. :)

yes brisbane was a mess, luckily that doesn't happen too terribly often

Watchdogfish: I deleted the FITD thread for Paris. I honestly thought the draw would be annouce tomorrow! I'm so sorry... Is the Warsaw replacement for Berlin confirmed, cause you didnot update your list, so i presume its not official!

It's ok but we should stick to the managers here or it sort of defeats the purpose of having a management thread :p

Yeah Warsaw's been moved did you want to give it a go?

########

Marbella's also been added so that's available and I'm now going away on the 6th April so Ponte Vedra Beach is available too (although if no one can do that week I'm back on the Thursday so I could update then).

I think you should start with doing just one each week cos it is very time consuming and you haven't managed before :p

And for the Ponte Vedra/Marbella week I think we should give priority to anyone who's completely free first.

4 days before? That's a random number
You will get Stanford and Quebec so don't worry :p

I'll post the rest of the list during the Rome/Estoril week, so in 2 weeks time.

I think cos there's a lot of interest this year we'll limit it to 2 tourneys each to keep it fair. Then if there's some tournaments spare after say, Wimbledon, then we can pick more. Let's see how it goes :)

Let's see what's left over :p

Ok so I've put the rest of the calendar up so anyone who wants to manage is welcome to make their choices! You can choose either a premier or international event, the only tournament I'm going to be picky about is the YEC in Bali.

Like I said above if for the moment we can limit it to 2 tournaments each, then after Wimbledon we'll see what's left. I'm not trying to be a control freak or anything it's just I didn't expect managing to be so popular this year! This also gives any new managers a chance to get a tourney or if the calendar changes we can shuffle things around easier :)

I've chosen the Doha YEC cos I have an idea I want to try for it

Ok I know it's only June but I'm thinking if we get as many managers next year we'll have to do what Meelis does in Tennis Tipping - let everyone request their tournaments and then decide who gets what. Maybe give priority for the big events to the experienced/proven managers and then place the new managers afterwards, using random.org if we have to.

But let's worry about that later on in the year, the thought just occurred to me
