First of all, I guess one match too far for Morita.

But Anne! :woohoo:

Really proving she belongs in in the top fifty! Keep it up!

Ayumi :(
When she stopped running down Anne's shots it seemed pretty clear this would happen.

Hope she can recover for AO

Congrats Anne  First WTA tour Semi :hearts:
She was in Kolkata SFs in 2007. ;)

Didn't watch too much of it, but I think Ayumi was just drained after all her efforts this week. She looked exhausted sitting during the break.
Not the way I wanted Anne to win, but I'm really happy that she's starting the year the way she's ended! :D Good luck in the SFs!

Anne will be at least #53 in the ranks next week... with just 60+ pts away from #50, 70 pts from #45. If she wins one more match in Auckland, she will get 70 more pts. Looks almost certain that she's going to break top50 in Australia.

Well Done Anne, a 2nd semi-final and a great way to start the year.

Give it your all in the semis.

Poor Ayumi. Hope she's ok for Australia.

I believe it was a leg injury for Ayumi, not just exhaustion. She called the trainer about it against Aleks and it was all wrapped up today. Her movement just kept getting worse during the set and she eventually just stopped running. Hope its not serious.

Poor Morita, been on a really good run of form:kiss:

Anne:):):worship:. Even with Morita not 100%, much better serving than before, really aggressive and some good defence as well. Seriously think if she plays like that she could challenge Caro if she wins her semi...

I dount that was the way Anne would have wanted to go through, but still SF is a great result for her. Going to be a lot tougher in the next round though against (probably) Wozniaki.

(Strange, no-one predicted Anne in one set in the WWW poll .)

Forgot to put. Shame it had to end like this. Hope Ayumi is ok for the Aus open.

Anne :woohoo: Everything seemed to be working today, serve was constitent, groundstrokes were punishing, got to every ball just an all round good performance :hearts:
To start the year with a WTA Semi is fantastic, a Lena-Anne final would be a dream for me. Good Luck in the Semis :D

Ayumi  she has a lot of talent, rest up :)

As soon as Ayu went down 0-3 I knew she would prolly retire, and I was hoping she would. If she knew she was too exhausted and hurting to have a shot at winning, it was smarter to not waste the energy and risk further injury and just retire.

To bad Ayu  Rest up and get ready for the AO!

OMG I had a power cut seconds after she took the first set and lost my live streaming. When I get back online I find out that Morita retired! Hard luck for Mortia, she played a good first game then went down hill. Anne by contrast got better and better, striking the ball so well and hitting some great returns. Undeafeated in WTA quarter finals

Good luck against Wozniacki (probably), I'll be rooting for you Anne, even though I'm a Wozniacki fan ;) :bounce:

Ayumi has a hamstring strain according to wtatour.com. Not good news at all, they usually take a month to fully heal. Hopefully it was more exhaustion than the actual hamstring itself.

Well done to Anne too by the way. Very close to top 50.

Ayumi :scared:

This is such a sad way for her big winning streak to have ended - 20 matches won in a row and ended by retirement.

Lets hope she can get better by Melbourne. :scared:
