Is this her breakthrough?
Auckland R2: (Q)Morita def. Wozniak 7-5 6-2njnetswill Jan 7th, 2009, 04:04 AM Is this her breakthrough? alwayshingis Jan 7th, 2009, 04:06 AM Aleks  Ole Molasses Feet. Until she gets that movement and fitness sorted out, I don't think she can be a viable top 30 player. Optima Jan 7th, 2009, 04:08 AM  Ayumi! :D Sassy-Na Jan 7th, 2009, 04:08 AM morita :clap2: Vincey! Jan 7th, 2009, 04:08 AM OMG Aleks, she was so slow today! she couldn't keep her level up during all the pts, really disappointing she had a really nice draw! Well work on that game for Hobart and do better there :o.... but Morita was playing really well, almost not missing at all after that 5-3 down in the first set LindsayRulz Jan 7th, 2009, 04:10 AM :spit: Is Morita hyperactive? Feel like she jumped all the time during the match. AyumiMorita Jan 7th, 2009, 04:10 AM definitely improved the serve impressive footwork would not have known that she had played 4 three set matches previously was down 3-5* and set point called the trainer at 3-1 second set and was treated at 3-2 incredible defense ran down every ball was striking the two handed inside out forehand particularly well hit a one handed forehand down the line on a break point and was completely off the court good job! Hachiko Jan 7th, 2009, 04:11 AM Nice win, Ayu. :yeah: 20 straight wins! AyumiMorita Jan 7th, 2009, 04:11 AM :spit: Is Morita hyperactive? Feel like she jumped all the time during the match. she must have learned that from Sugiyama hahaha a lot of slapping of the leg that was probably the reason why she had to get her leg wrapped HAHAHA hablo Jan 7th, 2009, 04:12 AM Aleks. Just keep working hard! young_gunner913 Jan 7th, 2009, 04:12 AM Ayumi :hearts::worship: This is a great tournament for her. :bigclap: and her first win in straight sets! juki Jan 7th, 2009, 04:12 AM Ayumi :bounce::):worship: drake3781 Jan 7th, 2009, 04:14 AM I saw part of the second set.... Marta Domachowska 6-4 4-6 6-4 [down 3-1 in the third] 2R def. Aleksandra Wozniak 7-5 6-2 [down 5-3 and set point in the first] drgray Jan 7th, 2009, 04:33 AM Wow! I watched the match from start to finish and I am absolutely so impressed by the quality of that match. Morita was tenacious in running down almost every ball she could get her racket on, and some balls she shouldn't have gotten to. Morita also played consistent yet aggressive, and flattened out her shots down the lines very well. It was also cool to see her quick hands in slow-mo. I know she switched on her forehand, but seeing it was really cool, and shows just how much talent she has. :worship: I hope this will be the big breakthrough for Morita, I know she must be tired, but Wozniak accomplished the same feat in '08, beating Morita actually in the qualies. PerfectForm Jan 7th, 2009, 04:41 AM great win Ayumi!! Anyone has this match on video? would love to see it :) Imperfect Angel Jan 7th, 2009, 04:48 AM Ayumi :hearts: :yeah: adam_ads_n Jan 7th, 2009, 04:59 AM Well done Ayumi  It really makes me feel better about her win against Marta. And when I read the description of that match (I haven't watched it) I feel that Ayumi is stronger than ever :) Cakeisgood Jan 7th, 2009, 05:19 AM OH NO!!!!! Aleks, you need to move haha. No third set comeback today? Seriously, great run of results for Ayumi, even if I would have liked it more if she won this one in the same manner that she won her first 4 this week. serenus_2k8 Jan 7th, 2009, 06:49 AM Congrats. Now she faces Anne. I hope she has reached her limit of victories over British players for this week :o OsloErik Jan 7th, 2009, 09:51 AM Ayumi is on a huge win streak. It's good to see her hitting that two-handed forehand so confidently, it really is a beauty. I haven't seen someone get that kind of angle on an inside-out with two hands since...well, probably Seles, actually. Not too many two handers around, but she hits that inside-out forehand so well angled. I'm pulling for her tomorrow. Poor Keothavong just can't get a break! I keep on just barely preferring her opponents. I'm sure she doesn't mind, but it's still too bad that I haven't had a good chance to cheer for her this year so far. CooCooCachoo Jan 7th, 2009, 10:13 AM Awesome result this week for Ayumi  Sander. Jan 7th, 2009, 03:57 PM Morita is on fire now:yeah: Elwin. Jan 7th, 2009, 04:00 PM Ayumi :worship: sunsfuns Jan 7th, 2009, 04:08 PM She hits two-handed on both sides? I didn't know that... Haven't had a chance to watch her play yet. Maybe today if I can get home early enough. :) | |
