5th meeting of AnnaC and Sania Mirza :bounce:
AnnaC leads 4-0. i'm very excited though its only an exhibition match. Lets see what happens. Best of luck to both.

Anna had gone through some poor form and Sania sidelined by injury.

I like Anna's new outfit. :) Anna lost a tight match against Dulko so I'm a little worried. I have yet to see her play in 2009 so I won't make any predictions for now. We'll see. Come on Anna! :D

Sigh. Chakky lost a close match again, well at least based on the score it looks close. Sammy01 have you seen her matches? or her HK matches? Is her game still out of sorts?

She served for the 1st set at 6-5 after being down 3-5 and was up a double break at 5-2 3rd set. :(

Is she still playing her ball bashing game from last year or gone back to her more thoughtful game from before then?

Well, so much for a new fresh start of the new year. Just more of the bungling play of last year. There are no signs she's picking up her game to an acceptable level. She keeps this up, she's going to drop like a rock through the rankings. Pity.

Alex.

Is it just me or Chakky really has developed a terrible habit of losing a set (and eventually the match) whenever she's leading? Talk about a lack of mental toughness and confidence. Sigh.

Now she's lost 8 out of 10, going back to Caro in New Haven.
If she doesn't get herself turned around, she'll have to play qualies in Hobart next year

Without seeing the match, that was quite a mess. At one point, she was good enough to break Suarez four games in a row. And yet she still finds a way to drop her level enough to blow a two break lead in the third

It really saddens me to see her lose so many matches she should be winning.

That's how Anna finished last year She lost 1st round USO and only won 2 matches after that.
I was hoping that start against Mirza and Venus was a positive, but this loss is like last fall. I think these first few rounds in Melbourne are important.
Another 1st round disaster could mean she falls out of the top 50 this year.

Kind of hard to believe that Anna is on the verge of falling out of the top 50. She is just not the player that she used to be.

Yeah horrible draw but this is what happens when you fall in the rankings, a potential third round with an up and comer who is knocking on the top 10. Right now, I just hope Chak gets past Keothavong. This is going to be a tough first round. She needs to be focus to win this one.

We've seen Chakky playing with a Wilson racket since the year started. Well, here's an official confirmation that Anna is now signed up with Wilson.

“I am thrilled to be playing with Wilson equipment,” said Chakvetadze. “I know that my racket, bag, strings all have the highest quality to support on my quest for the Top 10”. Anna will debut her Wilson [K] Blade Team racket and Eco Pro Tour Super Six bag next week at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

“We are excited to have such a talented young player as part of the Wilson team”, said Massimo Calvelli, Tour Director. “We know Anna has great passion for the game and we’re proud to support her.”
