Hi. I've never really been on this section as I'm usually on General Messages and media so this time I will notify you of her calendar here as well as General messages. I confirmed the calendar with her agent Lawrence today.

http://www.svetlanakuznetsovasite.com/Calendar.html

As you can see it's a very busy schedule once again and now not too many minor tournaments in there at all.

Cheers :wavey:

Hi, confirmed it with her agent Lawrence today.

So any of her fans out there have a look and see what you make of the new schedule under the 2009 Road Map

17 tournaments.
She didn't include the YEC. Modesty or she doesn't think she can make it?

Is she 100% sure she will be amoong the top tenners playing in her scheduled tournaments? If so, all top ten players are aleardy scheduled? No late entry available then?

thanks for this :yeah:

17 events  not many by kuznetsova's standards. Im sure she will play moscow.
I really don't know what 2009 has in store for her. I expected so much from her, after a strong first few months of the season then henin retiring, i thought she would make a push towards #1 but she didn't play well consistantly for the rest if the year. Hopefully 2009 will be better. Come on Kuzzy :bounce:

Year one of the roadmap. We'll see how it goes.
Sveta is a USO champion who did not win a tournament last year.
I want to see if Olga can reverse things and help her to start winning titles again.

pretty good schedule IMO
she respected the surface seasons and doesn't have to travel through continents too much

She didn't include any international events

I think she and Morozova are really trying to force her to focus on the big events more. She began doing that a little this year, but not properly. I really do think she has a few surprises for us. Her commitment to moving forward more is heartening; late 2004 was so great to see because she was willing to step in aggressively and didn't care if she sometimes made mistakes.

While it's certainly not an excuse, I really wonder if she was shell-shocked by Henin's retirement. I think the two were fairly close, in terms of a friendly rivalry, and they both had enormous respect for each other. It must have been hard to be (theoretically) the player most likely to inherit the mantle (being ranked #2 the season before) but still have so much trouble winning titles.

And I agree, GO KUZZY!

Very smart schedule, I hope Sveta finds her game and win a title in 2009!

I rather like the schedule plan

It's a very different hard-court build-up than usual in the summer, I'm THRILLED she's playing Eastbourne, and I think the 3 clay tournaments building towards the French is good plan, although 3 straight weeks on clay is a rough go. But, she's the most durable player at the top. When was the last time she was injured? US Open Series '05? Knock on wood!

thanks for posting this laurie:D

I'm so glad Sveta isn't playing in indoor tournaments next year:lol::p

and as to the idea that she was shell shocked by Justine's retirement I think that's true, and I think she did put a lot of pressure on herself to do well especially during the clay season. She said she was incredibly dissapointed to lose in the FO semi to Dinara -anyways hopefully she'll get herself together for next year and do well
good Luck Sveta!:D

Thanks Laurie!
I was hoping she would play the Family Circle Cup in Charleston - I knew I would be able to get time off then. Oh well, maybe I'll wait and go to Rogers, which will be in Toronto this year (not Montreal, according to their web site). Or, maybe I can make a trip to Europe... hmmmm.

Good luck in 2009, Sveta!

Well, Cincinnati might be doable ;).

I'm surprised no Kremlin Cup-but that's much later in the season, and I guess could be added. And, of course, hopefully the YEC again. I wonder if she'll play Fed Cup again, but that isn't determined until later, also.

Thanks, Laurie! We've been waiting for this ;).

No, no, you can't include the YEC cup in a schedule initially because it's the top 8 who qualify and no one knows how the season will go etc including potential injuries. If by September she's good as qualified then it will be added to the Calendar, as it says it's subject to change.

Venus Williams included the YEC in her schedule at the very beginning of this year. That's the difference between a top player and Sveta: confidence;)

Smart choice of events from Sveta there. I know she has quite a build up of events leading into the FO & USO. But I reckon that's sufficient for her to gain significant match play before those two slams, and she can have at least a week's rest beforehand. Hopefully that'll assist her in doing well at the two slams where's had the most success at :)

I think it would be best if she didn't play Moscow (know it's her home event) after she has played Tokyo & Beijing...at least she doesn't have to make an adjustment from outdoors to indoors then outdoors again if she were to play Doha (if qualifies for the YEC of course).

Hoping this schedule pays off and she can win a title in 2009 :D

That's fine for her but Venus hasn't played the tournament for quite a few years running until this year and this was the first time she actually ever won it since been on the tour since 1996.

It's got nothing to do with Sveta, I'm the one who publishes the calendar. The calendar gets amended as the year goes on with added tournaments, Fed cup schedule etc so I wouldn't worry about the year end tournament not on the list at the moment.

Love the schedule, but I would put the tournament in Stuttgart and East Bank Classic away, because she could become a little bit too tired though

I was kinda hoping for Charleston and New Haven, but I guess I'll try to make make it to Miami, Toronto and maybe Cinncinati. I know for sure I'll be going to the US Open and hopefully Wimby when I visit my family in June. I also have a friend who has invited me to San Diego in March, so Indian Wells might be a possibility. Where is everyone else heading to this year ?

I like it especially US Open Series Tournies. She likes USO and does well there so it's a good preparation for her.

Since the calendar page disappeared I think it's good that we post tournaments we know she has entered.

So after US Open,I found she's playing in Toray Pan Pacific in Tokyo:

http://www.toray-ppo.co.jp/web/pc/english/2009profile/

She'll also play Beijing because I think it's a mandatory one.

And that's all I know. She told in her blog she wouldn't play Kremlin Cup this year so we can count that one out already.

It is confirmed she'll play in Tokyo in this article:

Nine of top 10 to play at Pan Pacific Open

TOKYO, Aug 20 (Reuters) - Nine of the world's top 10 women will compete at next month's Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, organisers said on Thursday.
World number one Dinara Safina, last year's winner, is the only top 10 player absent from the $2 million hardcourt event which runs from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3.
Americans Serena and Venus Williams, French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova and her fellow Russian Maria Sharapova are among a quality field featuring 38 of the world's top 40.
Triple grand slam winner Sharapova has slipped to 49th in the rankings after nine months out with a shoulder injury. She returned to the WTA Tour in May.
