Welcome to Pick-A-Winner (PAW), the Predictions game!

Since this is the Year End Championships, this tournament is only open to the top 16 PAW players in the final 2008 Race Rankings!

Four Alternate positions will also be allocated for players ranked 17 to 20, just in case any of the top 16 players do not play the tournament. The 4 Alternate players can post PAW picks until it is determined that they cannot play in the tournament.

Playing PAW is simple. Over the course of the tournament choose any 7 matches and post who you think will win them.

Some basic guidelines:

Never edit or delete your posts. If you want to change or cancel a pick, use a new post to state your new pick .
Please try to check if a match has started before picking it. If a pick is late it is invalid and you may replace it.
If a player withdraws before the match, the pick does not count and may be replaced.
If a player retires during the match, the pick is valid.
Try to number your picks. It makes my job a lot easier.
Posts should be in a format in which it is clear who you think will be the winner. For example: Player A OVER Player B or Player A DEF Player B and not Player A vs Player B or Player B loses to Player A.
Finally, please try to use the players’ real names and not their nicknames.

25/Oct/08- Thread opened. The first 5 qualifiers into the 2008 YEC's are now listed. The fight is on for the remaining 11 places.

29/Oct/08 - 13 Players now assured of their place in the 2008 PAW YEC tournament. PAW Quebec will decide who gets the final 3 places.

29/Oct/08 - A separate thread Who are the PAW YEC Qualifiers? (http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?p=14327963#post14327963) has been set up for the Qualifiers and Alternates to introduce themselves and any general chat during the YEC's.

02/Nov/08 - All Groups Stage points now listed. Please can I ask that nobody posts any picks at the moment until FrOzon has posted the revised RACE ranking points list after Quebec. Thanks.

03/Nov/08 - Final 16 Qualifiers and 4 Alternates now finalised. Please start to make your picks. Alternates can make their PAW picks until it is determined that they cannot play the tournament. Good Luck everyone.

04/Nov/08 - All 16 Qualifiers now in play, so no Alternate players in YECs this year. Points standings updated after todays 3 round robin matches. Wednesday OOP added. Three players hold the joint lead and all but one player picked Venus to win. :)

05/Nov/08 - Standings updated after the second days round robin matches. Thursday OOP added. Everybody scored with winning picks today, and ~Eclipsed~ now holds a 2 point lead.

06/Nov/08 - All standings now updated after the third days round robin matches. Fridays OOP added. The high scoring continues with ~Eclipsed~ still holding on to the lead. :)

07/Nov/08 - Standings updated after the completion of the Round Robin matches. Saturdays OOP added. Archer16 now leads by 9 points. :worship:

Most of the time the problem in PAW is that women's tennis is so unpredictable. In this tournament there's an opposite problem - it's too predictable :lol:
