Elena:
winners - 19
UEs - 17
at net - 8/10

Amelie:
winners - 5
UEs - 18
at net - 5/11

Match stats as I recorded them. Don't believe what the TV/stream says. :tape:

There goes 51% of WTAW.

Elena was absolutely marvelous today. Should have been 62 60, but Amelie just completely outclassed. There were a few moments/volleys of brilliance, but she didn't come to net enough, IMO. Way too many double faults too. Looked like she tanked the last game, letting Elena hit two aces and bunting the other two long, but that's OK.

Another semifinal. :hearts: Good win, Amelie is always a dangerous opponent. Now beat Cirstea.

2008 has been a forgettable season for Amelie.

Work hard in the off-season. If you improve that serve, there will still be some game left in you.

So sad to see her leave the court sheepishly like that. Not a very good way to end the season, to say the least.

Look forward to seeing you in 2009, Amélie. ALLEZ.:hearts:

I saw Amelie beat Elena 6-0 6-0 in Paris 5 years ago. How times change !

Well that was impressive, I think it was pretty obvious that Lena should have been winning this but Momo has always been so good indoors.
Obviously Momo is far from her best thats for sure but she always struggled with Lena even when she was but today she could do little as Lena didnt even piss her service games away, she was simply too powerful and Momo may have given up a little towards the end.

Woohoo, much easier then expected... Anyway, elena should win this title. But she should have done a lot more things...:( Lets hope she can pick it up, win this, and finally play well at YEC.

I'd like an elena-li final.:D

I may be the only one saying this.. but Amelie, next year is time to take a hard look at whether you really want to be playing on tour and struggling.

Expected win by Elena.. hopefully she takes the title and that momentum into YEC

From Amélie's blog today:

Friday, October 24, 2008
Well, I had a difficult time today. Elena was playing well and was just too good. She has been having a great season and is playing really well, so I wish her luck the rest of the week and in Doha. I myself have things I want to work on, and after a short break I'll be looking for my new coach and getting back to work for the upcoming 2009 season.
I want to thank you all for reading this week. I really enjoyed all of the questions you sent in, I'm sorry I couldn't get to all of them! I was so happy to talk about wine, my dogs... I had a good time, and I'll definitely blog again next year!
Thank you for all your support and talk to you all again soon :)

Never in doubt.

I predicted 61,64 in the WWW thread :p

In some other thread before the tourney started, I predicted Lena would not drop more than 4 games a set this tournament long, exclude the first set of the first match, I might be right too.Hope she sweeps off someone in the final too
