To be honest I thought Ana could have served a little better, but AGAIN, net play was phenomenal. The lob volley on the very first point of the second set was

Great job. Should have been easier, Flavia wasn't serving very well and Ana wasn't taking advantage as much as she could have. I can't complain though, she played well and last week definitely wasn't a fluke, she is back into form. :yeah:

Great win! Ana played very well, and the match was entertaining overall. Some of the rallies were amazing. Both women were moving very well. Anyway, Ana is definitely out of her slump. Her net play was phenomenal.

I felt Ana's going to win, but wasn't entirely convinced. Well DONE! That's the best win for Ana since ages. Flavia is riding on a wave of success, so it's definitely a worthy scalp.
Also a match between two most attractive players in top15 (for me obviously). :hearts::drool:
Good luck in the SFs, Ana!

Flavia  Awesome couple of last weeks. Enjoy your time off or win in Quebec, if you decide to play there eventually. :p

Good win for Ana! She was excellent in the first set. She was confident and not making too many errors. In the 2nd set her 1st serve deserted her though but she was lucky Flavia was making UE's. Overall a good win for Ana though. It's her title to take now.

Sorry bro this is sport. Has nothing to do with me being a Maria fan. Ana was suppost to win this match and she did so. It wasn't a statement match in any way and it doesn't mean she is BACK. She fought hard vs an inconsistent Venus Williams and still lost. Ana is not back. Maybe she is starting to regain her form, but she isn't anywhere close to back!

Does that make you feel better to say too bad Maria isn't back? I don't take it as if it is the end of the world. I have other tennis players I like to watch on the men's and women's side. Don't worry we Sharapova fans can survive without Maria for 3-4 more months. Life goes on.

Ana shows today her best defense since claycourt season and also played well at net.

Forehand, her biggest weapon is still in comeback process, but looks way better than just 15 days before.

After this wins i Personally dont care what will happens with Ana in Linz now. She played 5 good/solid matches in the row since last week so she seems ready to for Doha which is most important.

I was responding to Optima or someone in the thread who said Ana should never lose to Flavia and was acting if the win was guaranteed or expected :p I think it's a great win for Ana over a tough opponent(even if Flavia wasnt at her best).

Playing for rankings is never very smart. Maybe it makes some sense to take as many points as she can while she's playing well; it would be unrealistic to expect this form to last forever. But I don't know.

Anyway, Pennetta may have been top 20 before, but at least this time one can't say she's overranked.
