We remain in the USA this week, as we move to the East Coast for the tournament here in Miami. Last week, Tulyaganova surprisingly came out on top and will hope to do it again this week. World #8 Safarova will aim to defend her title but will face very stiff competition in trying to do so! We are still waiting for the top players to show what they are made of this season… Maybe this is the week?!

France's Alizé Cornet today announced she is seriously considering her future on the OWTT. Alizé joined the tour less than 2 seasons ago, at Wimbledon and has since gone on too achieve great thing. Including a career high ranking of #2, a Grand Slam title and 2 GS finals. However since reaching the SF at last seasons YEC Cornet has seen her form desert her, struggling to win any matches at all.

'Despite reaching the final in Bangalore the other week I don't see my results improving any time soon. I am just not enjoying my tennis anymore and want to do other things in my life. I'll be sorry to leave the tour as I've had good times here but all my friends have left and I think it might be my time too'

Alizé joins a string of original players considering retirement, including current world #1 Serena Williams. Alize today told Chris, tour director, she will make her final decision before the Grass Court season.

Congratulations to Alize Cornet, who picks up her first title since Antwerp last season. She played some great tennis this week to see off some tough opponents. Hopefully this will put rest to her retirement thoughts, as she rises back up to #5 in the rankings :) Michelle was so close to winning her debut title here - just a couple of points being the difference in that second set - but she should be proud of her great week, including wins over #2 Safina and defending champion and #8 seed Safarova :worship:
