I've been in Luxembourg from saturday till tuesday, and I've seen most of the players in action these days, and a few practices.
I'll post some notes on players (don't remember too much, so they'll be short notes) and one or two pictures. If you're interested in more pics, let me know, and I'll post them in her forum or thread;)

Iveta Benesova
In the first set against Robson, she was horrible. Especially her service was just not present. There was one game which she handed to Robson with 4 double faults out of 5 points :o After that, the serve got better, and Robson didn’t have a chance on her service anymore. Still, I’m not sure she would have won if Laura had kept her head together.
At 2-1 15-15 in the 3rd set, there was a wrong score. Iveta made the point, the umpire called 15-30 (which was correct), but the scoreboard got set to 30-15. Nobody set anything, but when the game went to deuce, Iveta thought she had won it (which she would have, if the scores would have been set correctly), so she went to complain at the umpire. I’m not sure, but I believe she told her that she should have mentioned it earlier. Iveta kept complaining, her coach joined the conversation too, but of course the umpire wasn’t going to change the score. (I thought they were both right; Iveta was right about the score, but she should have mentioned it earlier. I guess it proves that players keep score in their head, without listening to the umpire/checking the scoreboard much). In the end Iveta was really really mad, throwing her racket, and looking twice as angry as she always does, but she managed to channel her anger into good play.

Astrid Besser
Nothing very notable about her. She plays double handed on both sides.
And I liked her outfit (Sergio Tacchini, I haven’t seen anyone else with it).

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Besser.jpg

Catalina Castano
I thought her service was surprisingly strong. I don’t know why, but I had expected a weaker service. It wasn’t too fast, but not slow either, and very well placed. She can really rely on it.
She also has quite a big swing on her forehand, I thought.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Castano6.jpg

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Castano9.jpg

Anna Chakvetadze
Her game was the same as always, but pff, she’s a mental wreck. As soon as things don’t go her way, she collapses. Credits to her for winning the match against Johansson though. She choked from 5-2 to 5-4 in the first set, and I thought she’d lose it, but she didn’t, and won the 2nd set rather easily too.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Chakvetadze13.jpg

Cindy Chala
She has an annoying coach. He kept talking to her and encouraging her, rather loudly.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Chala3.jpg

Marta Domachowska
Saw her training with Na Li. They were playing games, and Li was winning pretty much all of them, Marta didn’t exactly impress me.
I wondered, does she have a coach atm?

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Domachowska7.jpg

Gisela Dulko
She started off really badly, losing the first 3 games, but then Garbin started making errors and Dulko was able to play herself into the match. I was only the first set and a half, and neither player was in control, but Gisela played better on the important points.
I liked her outfit :)

Thanks a million, Zamboni! Yeah, I read about Iveta being cheated out of a gp in separate thread. She seems to have gotten over it rather well. Got more/hi res pics of her at LUX?

I'm posting this alphabetically, Amelie and Chanelle will come up later.

Vera Dushevina
Only saw a few games of her match against Peng, but it seemed to be one of these days where nothing was working for her.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Dushevina.jpg

Marina Erakovic
In the beginning of her match vs Errani, she played really well, hit some very good winners. As the match continued, some errors got into her game, but she still played well. It was an entertaining match.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Erakovic4.jpg

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Erakovic8.jpg

Sara Errani
Her second service is very weak. She really needs to work on that. I think it’s something about her ball toss, which makes her having to bend far backwards to be able to hit the ball, and it gives the serve quite a strange angle, and no speed at all. The match against Erakovic was really exciting, Sara was a break up in the 3rd set, missed 3 matchpoints on Marina’s serve on 5-3, then of course got broken at 5-4 (so predictable) but in the end she managed to win it 7-5.
Cheered for her a lot during the match, and got a picture with her after the match, she was looking as scared as usual when people talk to her, lol (she’s so sweet!)

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Errani3.jpg

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Errani5.jpg

Yuliana Fedak
She is ANNOYING. Seriously, someone needs to tell her to shut the hell up. In her first match it wasn’t so bad, but against Krajicek the Davai davai davai davai davai come on come ons were killing. Really. She did it after like every point. During other matches, I could hear her say it while she was playing on the other court than were I was sitting too. Brr.
She’s new on my disliked players list :p

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Fedak2.jpg

Tathiana Garbin
She started off alright (helped by Dulko), then she started making more errors, letting Dulko back into the match.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Garbin4.jpg

Stephanie Gehrlein
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Gehrlein.jpg

Groenefeld/Senoglu
Fun match against Medina Garrigues/Ruano Pascual.
They relied on ALG’s serve a lot, which was clearly the strongest of the 4. Anna-Lena was hitting some good shots, but she was also the one making most errors.

Hantuchova yes (last match of the day so it was that or going to the hotel - chose tennis;))

Daniela Hantuchova
I had planned on avoiding her, but ended up watching both her training and her first round match. She was training with Errani, which was not so spectacular, but still nice to watch.
In her match against Parmentier, she played badly, especially in the 2nd set. Both players were playing good points, and then hitting incredible errors the next point.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Hantuchova.jpg

Mathilde Johansson
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Johansson.jpg

Mervana Jugic-Salkic
Saw the last games of her match against Fedak. She was clearly limping, I was impressed with her even managing to win one more game during the time I was watching.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/JugicSalkic2.jpg

Sesil Karatancheva
She’s a ballbasher. Having troubles whenever she has to do something else than whack the ball. Her backhand is a lot stronger than her forehand though, the forehand isn’t all that powerful at all.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Karatancheva5.jpg

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Karatancheva9.jpg

Mariya Koryttseva
Her grunt is sooo annoying. It was clearly audible on the other court:tape:

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Koryttseva3.jpg

Michaella Krajicek
She’s one of the girls I cheered for most, thought it was time to show my Dutchness a bit ;)
Against Silbereisen she played really well, esp in the first set, Silbereisen hardly got a service back into play. In the second set there were a couple of tough games, but of course Misa was never going to lose that match.
Against Fedak, she started by going to the net a lot, which wasn’t too effective. She won her servicegames with more difficulty than Fedak, but she did come back from 4-5 to win the set 7-5. In the 3rd set Misa got a break behind twice, but fought back every time. Then in the tiebreak, at 5-5, Fedak played a strong service, really good point to get matchpoint. There was no reason for Misa to be upset about that point, but for some reason the threw her racket, nearly started crying and of course was too upset to win the next point....pff!

I also watched one of her practices, during the special day for handicapped people. One of the handicapped people “escaped” and walked onto Misa’s trainingscourt. She was gonna do a physical training, so there was also a big ball, and he started to play with her while Misa was warming up. Her fitness coach threw the ball to him a couple of times, it was really nice to see how he and Misa handled it :)

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/KrajicekFedak2.jpg

Johanna Larsson
I think she’s sharing a coach with Arvidsson, is that right?

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Larsson3.jpg

Na Li
Saw her training with Domachowska (as mentioned before), and her match against Minella. She didn’t do anything spectacular, but it was enough to win easily. She simply didn’t waste any energy.

Tatjana Malek :inlove:
The smiley should say it all, I loved her in Luxembourg last year, then never saw her again, but loved her again this year. She’s damn cute, and I love her personality.
The first match went really, really easy. I filmed one of her service games (but managed to delete it....), it lasted less than a minute. That was average for her service games. She does rely on her service quite a bit, but that’s understandable. When things got harder in the 2nd and 3rd matches, she showed her temper started talking and complaining about her own errors.
Oh, and got a picture with her :)

Medina Garrigues/Ruano Pascual
Great duo! Their match was close, but still I felt they were always in control. And I loved them, usually it’s the players who play doubles as ‘extra’ who are chatting and having fun on court, but they were like that too.
And I already liked Anabel a lot, but now I love her even more. She’s awesome :D

Mandy Minella
She was simply not good enough to challenge Li. Most notably, she was not fit enough. This surprised me, but even during the first set, which took less than half an hour, she was gasping for breath after rallies and needed to take some extra time between points. I guess she is just not used to the pace Li was giving her.
She did seem to like the support from the crowd a lot :)

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Minella4.jpg

Pauline Parmentier
Another player with a thigh strap.
Most notable about her match vs Hantuchova was the last game. It was a really long game, she saved like 6 matchpoints, which got her a lot of support from the crowd, but at the last matchpoint she hit a double fault.....

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that, she does like to slice it a lot:weirdo: (I don't like when players only slice their backhand;))
I wouldn't say it is very weak when she uses both hands though, far from her best shot, but I've seen weaker.

Shuai Peng
When nothing is working for one player (Dushevina in this case), it must seem that for the other player (Peng in this case;)), everything is going well. Hard to judge her game based on this match.

Tsvetana Pironkova
Another player with a strap around her thigh

Laura Robson
One of my new favourite players. Gosh she’s so adorable!
In the first set vs Iveta she was playing really well, hitting some very good winners, and showing great potential. Her forehand seemed a bit better than her backhand, but only by a slim margin. The in the 2nd set, Iveta played one very solid servicegame and for some reason, Laura collapsed. She got very upset over that, and for the rest of the match she looked just like the :awww: smiley, so cute. I hope she grows out of that when she gets older though, it’s cute when you’re 14, but I hate it when older players are like that ;)
Anyway, she’s got all the potential of becoming really good in a few years, if she keeps working hard.

Mandy has always lots of problems against hard hitters on fast courts. A few weeks ago she won only 2 games against Coin and won just a few games against Karatancheva too. :(
She said in her interview that it was a really bad day for her and she didn't feel well on court.

In doubles Mandy has played much better as she reached doubles quarters with Claudine Schaul. :)

Ipek Senoglu
I liked her. Her game is pretty allround, didn’t discover a clear weak (or strong) shot. And she’s tempery – my kind of girl ;)

Laura Siegemund
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Siegemund2.jpg

Tatiana Silbereisen
About her game: she was simply not good enough. It’s harsh, but just the way it is.
About her: think of the 2 most butch players you can think of, combine them, and then imagine someone butcher. That’s Silbereisen. She seemed a nice, sweet girl too. Saw her in the promo village after her match, and she really seemed to have enjoyed the experience, and didn’t care so much that she lost.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Silbereisen.jpg

Alina Tseplukova
Another one of the players I had never heard of.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Tseplukova2.jpg

Liana Ungur
She had an injury on her right arm, it was taped before the match, and during the match she got a bigger tape on it. She was still playing rather well though, for someone I didn’t know;)

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Ungur6.jpg

Aurelie Vedy
I don’t know how she won the match against Karatancheva. She was playing quite well in the first set, but she got injured and got a strap around her thigh (there were many), which she was clearly bothered by for a while. However, she raced through the 3rd set, went 5-0 up, had a mp in that game, then choked and ended up breaking for the match at 5-4:tape:
In her 2nd round match she was making way too many errors to be able to trouble Malek.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Vedy4.jpg

Lenka Wienerova
I liked her. She has something cool and wild about her, kind of wild technique too.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g169/LindaZamboni/Tennis/Luxemburg%202008/Wienerova6.jpg

Oh & when you mentioned Fedak yelling "Davai, Davai", did the crowd find it funny
Cause I remember when I saw her play against Azarenka at the GC this year she kept on doing it constantly & the crowd laughed at times  such an interesting player.

I thought you used to like him?

Oh and my Misa pics are rather ok, let me know if you want them.

 Well, I did like him...until I met him. :p

Of course I want them - please...if you can mail them? Coz I'm going on holiday tomorrow for a week and a half. ;)

Oh Linda, nice to read reports about the match we followed together :p

I'm so sad you hate Yuliana, she's the cutest player ever! And I like Koryttseva's grunt  Have you heard Benesova complaining about the "noise" on the court 1 ?

We were all laughing at it, but more in an annoyed kind of way.
The rest of the weekend my friend and I were saying Davai! at everything we did:lol:

Sure, I'll upload them and send the links - they're too big to email

Didn't see her match unfortunately, it clashed with other things (and wasn't too keen on seeing Fedak again, lol), but she was watching one of Ungurs matches, with a few others girls.

Noooooooooooooooooooo. It's davai davai davai come on. :p 3 davai's. ;) And it can get darn annoying too, but well she just looks so "cute" (still a bit like a child), so I can't hate her. :haha:

Iveta once complained about the presence of the Belgian royalty in a Challenger so noises on another court is nothing.

Her mantra is hilarious and more a reason to like her than the opposite. She must have changed it a little bit. It used to consistently end on a "davai". Like "Davai, davai, davai, come on, davai!".
