*edit* In view of the streaks posters have posted before, this has sort of become rank the top 10 player win streaks.

10th Best: Svetlana kuznetsova = 6 wins: Fed cup (2 matches), Tokyo Final (If not for Fed cup which is technically ITF I think, Kuzzy's longest and most recent win streak is her French Open Semi = 5 wins)

9th Best: Vera Zvonareva = 8 wins: Fed cup (I match), Guangzhou, Beijing Semi.

8th Best: Agnieska Radwanska= 9wins: Pattaya, Doha Semi.

7th Best: Ana Ivanovic = 9 wins: French Open Wimbledon 3rd round

6th Best: Venus Williams = 10 wins: Wimbledon Olympic quarter

5th Best: Elena Dementieva= 11 wins: Olympic Gold and US open Semi

4th Best: Jelena Jankovic = 12 wins: Beijing Stuttgart Moscow

3rd Best: Dinara Safina = 15 wins: LA Montreal - Olympic final

2nd Best: Serena Williams 17 wins: Bangalore Miami Charletson - Berlin quarter final

1st Best: Maria Sharapova 18 wins: Australian Open Doha Fed cup (2 matches) Indian wells semi-final.

Maria's streak was most impressive (BUT If not for Fed cup though, Serena has the longest streak). Bar the loss to Kuzzy, she went on to win Amelia Island too. Surprised Jelena's isn't longer, I thought winning 3 titles in a row would put her on top, but guess it's down to the events she won needing only 4 wins at a time.

Honourable mentions to Errani and Dokic amongst others for their impressive runs, though sadly they do NOT meet the criteria for a ranking in this list. But a round of applause to them please :bigclap:

Yeah, that was soooooo impressive by Jankovic. That win streak, you know, considering all the top players she defeated in route to those titles,
Thanks for those stats Marsh!

She played six matches against top ten players. It's not her fault other players lost early or couldn't be bothered to show up.

Main draw wins should only be counted.

ZOMG does it mean that Maria is the POY ?!!

On a serious note, it would be interesting to know in how many weeks or months these streaks happened.
It's not the same to have 12/15 wins in a row in less than 3 weeks or in 2 months imo ;)

Maria's streak was most impressive.

Really? I'd argue that Serena's is better. She actually won titles on different surface in that streak. That's a little more rare nowadays.

i think nr1 in this list should be justine henin!
she had winning streak toronto, us open, zurich, stuttgart, masters (2007), sydney, QF AO (2008)
i don't know how many matches it is, but a lot!

I think having an AO title in there especially with who she defeated.. I think that's more impressive than Serena's run.

If you discount Fed cup, Serena has the longer tour match streak. :)

Thank you, added to the OP. :)

Davenport: 9 wins

Fed Cup-Memphis-Indian Wells

Can she be put in the OP? :)

No, I'm afraid due to the new criteria, Lindsay doesn't make the cut. But still a solid run from her.

Tamarine Tanasugarn - 12 Wins

S'hertogenbosch - Wimbledon QF

Great run :bigclap: If grass court seasons were longer she'd most likely be ranked much higher! :)

This is sad, not long ago we have winning streaks of 20 or more, now 6 is the 10th best...

only MAIN DRAW wins should count. no fed cup shit.

 I thought so at first, but fed cup matches are still real competetive matches players have to win. It didn't seem fair to block them out.

In any case, going by that criteria, Serena has had the longest tour match win streak of the year so far, winning one more match than Maria.

Excluding Fed Cup, Memphis (5) + Indian Wells (3) = 8.:wavey:

6 is shortest win streak by a top 10 player.

OK, that makes sense. Svetlana can't win finals...

Jelena also has Rome + FO SF which is 9 or 10 if you include her WO against Maria in Rome.
