How many grand slams titles do you think Jelena Jankovic will win in her career?

Let her win the 1st GS then we'll discuss about this!!

Oct 20th, 2008, 11:52 PM
To be honest with you, I think none!!

I mean don't get me wrong, she is a great all-around player, on all surfaces, but I honestly don't see her getting past the 'elite' players, when they are playing their best.

In my opinion, her best chance is at the French...However, I do see a couple more finals for her!!! :yeah:

The French will be the only place she will be winning if any:o
But I hope say none:)

She'll win one, maybe three tops. I don't see her getting more than three, unless she does on clay what Venus has been doing on grass. The French is her best shot, though a win on hard wouldn't be too far of a stretch.

I think Jelena will win the Austrailian because of the momentum she has built with the three titles in a row and ending the year as number 1!

i'm not sure she can rattle of 6-10 and join the "henin, venus, serena, martina or monica" bracket. she'll do well to reach the "davenport, arantxa, mandlikova, capriati" bracket. More likely to win one slam in the next 12 months. could be any except wimbledon.

I think she's very capable of winning a slam, 3 at best. Her game has improved a lot and seems to be a the peak of her game, that's why i think this YEC would be her biggest test, because she's got the momentum and is no. 1 player in the world, but can she beat any top player right now to win this title?. She should but well see.

It's hard to win majors and she's 24 early next year. Not young for a defensive player who uses her court coverage.
I think if she wins one FO she did well.

I am pretty sure that she will win her first major next year.

She will have a great rest before AO which she will win.
Then she will win Roland Garros because she is a damn good defender.

If she continue her great progress with her groundstrokes and serve she will win Wmbledon and US-open 2010

2008 year: Henin retired, Pova injured, Mauresmo sucks, Ivanovic sucks during most of season, WS far from their best form. Rest of girsl obviously aren't any challenge, and honestly, except maybe Vaidisova and Paszek (who SUCKS now) never will be. Now 2 questions:

-How many slams Jelena won in 2008?
-Do You belive that 2008 will happen again?

Williams far from their best? LOL, they are getting older and older, they wont play better next year!!!!

And Jelena is just getting better and better since the us-open final, and she almost won against RG-winner Ivanovic in Semi-final in RG.

So relax, Jelena will win more GS than you have brain cells

JJ needs to peak physically for the slams. The only one where she was able to compete at like 80% was the US open, and she got to the final.
If she can do this, she can definitely win a slam next year.

I wouldn't say every player does. JJ was in a lot of pain crying during the AO semi, had a few problems at Roland Garros and lost 6-3 6-2 to Tanasugarn at Wimbledon (no explanation needed for that one).

JJ has been very unlucky at the slams with injuries this year.

:weirdo: What's the common thread bewteen Clijsters and Mauresmo? Mental midgets and greater competition.

Jankovic has less competition and is a mental juggernaut. She's been through terrible times and struggled this year yet finally found her way back to form. She will win 3-5 slams in her career.

I really don't know.
She can win up to 3-4 slams but she's also ä "Oh she was so good, too bad she never won a slam" type of player.
If she is healthy and plays like she did in Stuttgart she should win one. Despite her consistent results her play really isn't all that consistent as some people think.

Jelena's Beijing/Stuttgart/Moscow version could beat anyone. And after what I've seen from her in the last month I'm confident Jelena will be able to reproduce this form to beat WS/Maria/Ana -- her only rivals -- at slams.

Are you stupid? The Williams sisters themselves have said they have yet to peak and are still improving.
So what? You can also say Lindsay almost beat Venus at Wimbledon 2005, but didn't. Almost means NOTHING in tennis, you win or lose there's no inbetween.
I'd rather Sharapova win another slam than JJ:speakles:

Jelena Jankovic is a lot like the New York Knicks teams coached by Pat Riley. They played harder than anyone else in the regular season, so they had great records. But in the playoffs, when everyone else was plaing hard too, they always fell short. In tennis, the slams are the playoffs. Everybody plays hard.

Since when does being past one's peak mean they aren't playing well?

Even Williams-Sister's haters know that they have had some glorious careers. If Venus or Serena was at their peak, even I as a JJ fan would know that they would dominate the field about half the year. However, they peaked in a different era and a different time.

And if you still don't get it, a 2002 Serena would be able to beat Ivanovic, Jankovic and Jankovic on Clay. That was her peak. 2008 Serena at her best may pose a threat to Jankovic, Safina, and Ivanovic, but her victory would not be so assured.
