Quotes of Venus Williams after her victory in the semifinal against Ana Ivanovic (4:6, 6:3, 6:4).

"Ana has the ability to take the game away from me, so it was important for me to take the game away from her. And I think I did that pretty well."

"I can only control what happens on my side of the net, so I don't worry about who I'm playing. I take the view that they have to go for winners against me, so the match is in my control."

(On her three defeats against Pennetta): "Every time she has played well and I haven't played my best, but congratulations to her. I made a lot of errors in Moscow, so I have to make sure I don't make anything like as many this time."

She learned from AO QF it seems :)

Well after the AO QF, it couldnt get any worse for Venus. There she looked so flat and her serving was horrendous. In Zurich, she just looked really confident and unflappable. Especially after missing out on 3 matchpoints, she really got it together and just served out of a tree. Fantastic:D

Needs to play just as aggressive against Flavia as she did with Ana. You just know Flavia is going to be in taking-the-ball-early mode tomorrow.

She lost two sets in a row to Ana 6-4 after being up 3-0. Glad she was able to come back in this match.

The truth doesn't have to be, it just it!

I like Vee's mentality, I agree with her analysis 100%, and I just hope she comes out guns blazing. Pennetta isn't one to take likely, but thankfully the courts are quicker this week, and Venus is somewhat rested. Deliver Vee :bounce:

as long as cutting down the errors doesn't mean stopping to be (uber) agressive.

Venus Williams can beat everyone, but mostly the errors beat herself and give out the candy to the opponent.

Hopefully she'll be able to turn the tide and get it rolling again, cause right now, no player besides Serena and Jankovic should be able to defeat her skills.

Most commentators would agree that the Williams Sisters control almost every match that they play. Morariu said that she believed that when the Williamses would say that it was their errors that lost them the match, it usually is true. I have seen them lose so many matches due to errors. Catch them on a bad day, and you could win. Flavia is the type of player that capitalizes on the errors and takes care of her game. That's what you have to do to beat V, play your own game and wait to break. But when V takes care of her game and plays aggressive (she must go to NET), then Vee wins.

tis true. venus controls the outcome. if she makes her shots, she wins. if she starts spraying, she loses. she's just that good.

Do people seem to forget that in that match, Venus came out limping noticeably and was barely moving throughout much of the first set? What was there to learn other than, don't get injured?

Its clear that she has a lot of respect for Ana's game. You never usually hear her say things like this about player's games.

Ana isnt good enough to beat Venus at her best in straight sets, so its clearly true
