She's one of my favorite doubles players, too bad. Good luck :)

(and what a run she had at the Rogers Cup in 2006!)

Her game wasn't one of the greatest but her personality definitely was.

Good luck for the rest Lena L.:wavey:

I was annoyed not to see her on the Olympics entry list when she was convinced to keep playing to participate in them. She was originally planning to retire last year but did win a round at the US Open two months ago. I will be sad to see her go, I always liked watching her play, especially in doubles.

yes, she's but such a professional competitor over the years. i still remember her upsetting pierce at the 1996 Australian Open IIRC. she's was borderline top-10 at several points in her career and stellar in doubles.

Sad way to go, no farewell tournament, nothing.

Even though I could have easily hated her the year Silvia retired I couldnt because she has a lovely game especially on grass and was one of the nicest players I have ever met.

I hope she has the child she wanted very soon!!

Elena :(

When she was fighting really hard she was able to inspire me somehow! she had many nice matches... Sad to see her go so quietly.

Why could you have easily hated her?

because she beat Silvia at the RG and Wimby 3R in tough 3-setters

I loved both Silvia and Elena
that loss to Mary in Moscow was the beginning of the end :(

Lena  :wavey: I hope she has a great life outside tennis :)

So has she OFFICIALLY retired?

Should I add her to my thread about those that have officially announced their retirement in 2008?

Best of luck to her in her life after tennis if she has:)!
