Who will win?

Flavia goes into this match with a 3-1 record over Venus, with their most recent match played only last week.

Flavia has never won above a Tier III event, Venus in 2.:p

Flavia in 2.

I cannot see Flavia losing tomorrow, she has been playing so well and Venus didn't even have to play today. Venus is playing really defensive, and most points I saw ended on Ana's error or winner. Flavia will be making more winners and less errors than Ana so Venus really needs to step up.

Venus is playing well and will have confidence over Ana.

Not sure if Pennetta is ready for such an occasion and as we all know, a Tier 2 Final is nothing for her in terms of pressure.

Venus in two!

Flavia in 2.

Or maybe in 3, if she plays poorly.

If Venus serves like she did in the 3rd set vs. Ana, then she'll take this match in 2.

Flavia will return serve a lot better than Ana did. I'd say this match is 50/50.

Flavia could have beaten Venus 1000 times in a row and I still wouldn't think her the more likely to win.

VENUS! VENUS! VENUS!

I have to go with my heart and say Venus. She played well today and usually her form improves as a tournament progresses so I'm hoping she will play a bit better tomorrow. She has to improve her head to head with Pennetta. She just has to!

You must have blinked through Venus' 26 winners right???

Anywho what else am i to say but THE Venus Williams!

Good match-up. :yeah: Probably the only final that would have been competitive; Flavia has never played Ana before and wouldn't have had her number (not yet at least :scared:); AMG would have lost against both Venus and Ana indoors. Now this is a good final. Flavia has a good record against Venus, but this is a Tier II final. Flavia has been to one before, losing to Safina, and she'll be hungry for this one.

Having said that, I think Venus will slowly play her way into the match and take it 4-6 6-3 6-1. :)

Well I'll tell you that I watched from 3-3 in the first to 1-0 in the second and then from 2-2 third set to the end. I only saw like 5-10 winners from her in those games, maybe because Ana ended every point on an error. Either way, Pennetta's playing much better than Ana so I'd have to assume Venus is going to have a much tougher time, especially when you consider their H2H.

If you think Flavia will be able to beat Venus in a Tier II final, then wow, good on you for having so much confidence in your fav!

This is a different match. Flavia got nervous in her match today but AMG allowed her to settle down. If Flavia gets nervous tommorow, i can only hope it is GAME OVER.

Venus has to win this! It's her first big final outside Wimbledon for a while now!

Flavia is in good shape, and Venus doesn“t play very impressive :scared:
But maybe Pennetta is a bit nervous tomorrow, it is a Tier II final, we will see!

But Venus has to win the first set, otherwise it will be really difficult for her...

Venus, purely because of the magnitude of this match. Plus I think she will have had quite enough of losing to FP.

Hmm...if VEnus brings it, she should win in two. This is a scary matchup though. Flavia could pull it out.

If Flavia could pull this off she should be in the top 10 next year.

Beating JJ and Venus to win would be really impressive.

I mean she has beating Venus playing the best tennis of her life and being so free, if she can bring this to a Tier II final then we will have to re-think Flavia Pennetta.

 Aces I prefer when you predict Venus will outright lose, like against Safina in Stuttgart and against Ana here. I feel more confident in Vee's chances then

They've never faced in a final.
I'd rather have 3 Wimbledons since 2004, then some tier 3 Mickey Mouse tournaments.
Flavia hasn't won a significant title in her career.
Get your facts straight. ;)

Anyways... Venus for the win!! :bounce:

I gotta believe Venus will get her revenge, especially since this is a final. I think this match is almost guaranteed of going three sets too, unless Venus brings out the steamroller. :hearts:

Davenport did it twice, the first time she won 5 times in a row and then 4.
Hingis never could.

I was reading an article on the wtatour website and it said that only 13 other players have ever beaten Venus 3 times (consecutively or not). All of those 13 players have been ranked in the top 4 at some point, most in the top 3. 9 of them have been number 1s. Pennetta's highest ranking is her current ranking of 15.

It's all very interesting.

I wonder who the illustrious 13 are...

1. Serena
2. Davenport
3. Hingis
4. Graf
5. Sanchez-Vicario
6. Pierce
7. Mauresmo
8. Clijsters
9. Sharapova
10. Kuznetsova
11. Jankovic
12. Novotna
13.
14. Pennetta

I don't know who number 13 is. It's not Dementieva, Henin or Golovin. All the rest are grand slam winner and/or number ones. I wonder who number 13 is.

Kwilliams ^ It's Magdalena Maleeva. H2H is 3-3. Maleeva also won 2/3 of their matches when Venus was in the top three, but all three of her wins period were indoors, her clear best surface.

I would like to know what happens to Venus everytime she plays Flavia that she makes the most weird unforced errors.

Credits to Flávia, who has been playing some great tennis.. but really, Venus had some bad UEs against Ana yesterday, but not as bizarre as just a few today..

Regarding the match, I think it will all come down to Venus' serve. If she serves like the third set yesterday, she will probably win. If she plays a lot with her second serve, then Flávia might have the upper hand.
