Is she 100%?

After this win she is qualified unless Aga does well in Linz and enters Quebec by WC.

but if she wins Zurich can Aga still over take her? or is there no chance at all?

Agnieszka would have to win Linz and Quebec both.

Venus would have 2522 to Aga's 2131. Aga would need to win Linz, 2406, and then enter Quebec by WC and win it.

I hope the field in Linz is thick because I think she'd enter Quebec!

After this weeks points have been added to the race, Venus will have 2522 (should she win), and Aga will have 2131. So if Aga gets 391 points by then, she'll overtake Venus.

Linz: Max 275
Quebec: Max 140

So she could, coz there's 415 available (but it ain't likely). And as ^^poster^^ says, she would have to get a wildcard for Quebec first.

If Venus loses tomorrow, Aga will need 306 to go ahead of Venus (more possible, still not probable!)

Aga has Kaia, Petrova, Ana, and then Vera. Rough draw.

Agata.

Aga won't play in Quebec anyway  She is too tired to play there

So it's quite safe to say that Venus is qualified now to YEC, congrats :)

let's hope Venus makes it because can you imagine a SEC with Serena, Venus, Jankovic, Ivanovic, Safina and Dementieva all playing well. I honestly think it would be the best season ending championship ever. Also imagine if Serena and Venus are in the same section of the round robin and have to do blood battle to make it to the semis? my mouth is watering
Also, Vera is playing well lately so she could threaten....

It would be awful if Venus and Serena weren't in the same group, honestly. Too bad Pennetta doesn't have enough ranking points!

Exactly.

It would be an absolute joke if Aga somehow qualified over Venus.

Ivanovic, Jankovic, Safina, Dementieva, Serena, Kuznetsova, Zvonareva, and Venus sounds a lot more competitive to me. Trust me, I have nothing against Aga, but with the exception of Kuznetsova she wouldn't post much competition against the rest.

Well, I think she will play there anyways. This is the end of season and many players have played A LOT, so I think it won't be a suprise of one(if only one) got injured.

By the way: Pennetta will probably be a second alternate so Venus should keep her fingers crossed not to get any of girls from her group getting injured lol

If Venus wins...
she would be ahead of Sharapova..
and would be ranked 7...

Radwanskas draw in Linz is hard.. shes got

Pennetta, Petrova and ivanovic in her side of the draw
and would meet Vera in the finals

Venus will not be qualified OFFICIALLY.

But she will be basically qualified. It is not official because technically, Sharapova could request a WC into Quebec City, Aga would ask for one too, etc.

Aga won't enter QC. Venus is in.

If Venus wins tomorrow:

7. V.Williams 2522
8. Sharapova 2515
9. Zvonareva 2436
10. Radwanska 2131

275 + 140 = 415. 2131+415= 2546. Radwanska can still mathemtically move to 7th and Zvonareva would need to SF in Linz. So basically, when/if Aga loses, Venus is qualified.

In the worst case scenario, if Radwanska does well in Linz, Venus can ask for a WC in Quebec as well.

She won't:o
Aga would need to win Linz, if she doesn't then there is nothing to worry about.

Will she actually play if qualified?

I don't want to be a cynic, but what would be wrong with that ? She asks for a wc, and if Radwanska loses early in Linz, then Venus withdraws from Quebec. It's just a backup. It would be a total shame for tennis if Radwanska was qualified for the YEC. Again it's quite unlikely. But the rules need to be changed. All GS winners should be qualified. It's bad enough that someone who never won a slam will be #1 at the end of the year.

Because it's pointless, she said she is done with events for the year, except if she qualifies.

Fot Jankovic palying 5 tournaments in a row to be sure to finish #1 wasn't so pointless (I'm not saying it's the best attitude).
