Srebotnik is one of the most boring players on tour, she's really fighting for the title along with Petrova, Radwanska and Kirilenko.

Oct 17th, 2008, 01:35 PM

I hope Flavia wins this tournament.

Oct 17th, 2008, 02:25 PM
I really have the believe now that she is able to win the tournament. Toughest player rested in the draw now is of course Venus, who has a 1-3 record against Flavia

Kata:yawn: Some brainless shots and poor footwork.

SROBOTonik really needs some coordination pratice, quick cuts. Itīs a real shame, she is such a stiff on defense. Every time an opponent starts to take control of a point, itīs just a short matter of time, until she is outplayed.

This was a good match. Two players with good shot selection and who know what they're doing on the court - and have full arsenals of shots at their disposal to execute. Not the best defenders around (particularly Srebotnik, who isn't getting any faster and whose defensive skills are the part of her game which is showing least improvement this season), but their resourcefulness makes up for that somewhat.

Srebotnik seemed untochable on serve for much of the 1st set, but her poor return game prevented her from gaining any kind of advantage over Pennetta - she's extremely slow to react when returning, and thus for Pennetta 1st serve in = point won. No idea why Srebotnik insisted in slicing most of her BHs during the 1st set - her BH may not be a weapon, but at least it's reliable.

Pennetta began taking the upper hand in the baseline rallies during the 2nd set, and actually gave a superb performance in the latter stages of it (early 2nd set was mostly Srebotnik playing shite) - even her somewhat unreliable serve was doing damage, though that's not saying much considering what a lousy returner Srebotnik is. Those DTL BH winners :hearts: She has also learned how to use her heavy topspin FH in faster surfaces - it may be loopy, but it's far from harmless.
