I don't get your reasoning behind why that H2H with Vaidisova is pathetic? Nicole was beating all of the top players for the last couple years. Including beating Jelena this year when she wasn't slumping. As much as I like Jelena... Non-slumping Vaidsiova>>Non-slumping Jankovic. Give respect where it is needed.

not really pathetic, but serena leads maria 5-2... i think for their rivalry it would be more interesting if it was abit more even, but all their matches have been pretty good to watch, except for the demolition/pathetic 61 62 and 61 61 from 2007.. the matches where maria had matchpoints/set points, if she won them maria serena could be 4-3 either way, which would be more exciting each time they meet. now its sort of like i wonder if maria can win a set, let a lone a match! lol! i always hope their match ups could turn into the serena vs henin rivalry, where their head to heads are really close and you dont know who will win. but i guess thats up to maria to change it...

Not pathetic at all, (Maria has a win against Serena in a GS final) and even if Serena lead 5/2, there is still great matches, plus Serena has to play very well to win, everytime, she is 100% focus cause she knows, she can lose, but she DOESN'T wanna lose against Maria anymore.

Anyhoo...

Sveta v. Henin is something ridiculous like 2-14+

Henin v. Venus 2-7. :p (Not really accurate, but meh.)

Serena's H2H against top players are generally awesome. I've noticed she has this habit of winning the matches where the H2H is tied. Like she lead Henin 7-4 for a while, Henin won 3 in a row. They played at 7-7. Result?

Oh. Hi 6-2, 6-0.

And against Venus she does the same. She has this bizarre habit of doing that. She turned the H2H with Sharapova around.

I guess Lindsay normally handled Mauresmo pretty comfortably, but you have to respect that Mauresmo beat her when she was no.1 in a slam sf (Lindsay would have gone on to beat play Hingis in the final and win 2 slams in a row :o) That match could even be looked at as career defining for Lindsay.

It could be career-defining, but the score was 46 75 75, and I think it was like the first or second match they ever played. Lindsay figured her out pretty quick. And I think she beat her something like nine times in a row? Some of her other semifinal losses were more biting, IMO...Martinez and Sharapova in particular were pretty bad.

Serena/Amelie H2H is probably worse than Lindsay/Amelie. 10-2 v. 12-4...about the same then.

Serena/Amelie H2H is probably worse than Lindsay/Amelie. 10-2 v. 12-4...about the same then.

I think had Lindsay won that tournament she would have been so much more equipped for winning slams, and she may have won so many more had she won that one. That is the first one that really "got away" IMO, and it was at such an important time in her career being her first stint at number 1. I think her chances of beating Hingis in the AO Final were MUCH higher in 99 than 98, especially considering she had crushed her just the week before on the same surface.

Yeah, Lindsay did have it all her own way against Mauresmo after that. But I think Mauresmo winning such a big match kinda erases the "embarassement" of the overall H2H. The Serena one is definetely worse.
