First match for Misa since Wimbledon  . Didn't expect that she would take a set off Kateryna :)
But i'm soooo happy that she is back :D

Well done Kateryna :)

Why doesn't she enter Tashkent or something?

Good comeback though :)

Hopefully Misa'll be able to stay healthy now and work at getting back to the top 100 next year. But while I understand why she decided to make her return at Stuttgart, I'm not sure whether it actually was the best decision, it may have been better for her to make her comeback at one of the smaller tournaments as that would have given her a bigger chance of winning some matches:shrug:

Personally I think Misa should spend the rest of the year playing 50 to 100k ITFs. She needs to get her confidence back and simply get some matches under her belt. Were she to play 4 to 6 ITFs before the end of the season, Misa would be able to play herself into the kind of form where she could play the Australian Open with the expectation of winning a few matches.

She will play $50k Joue-Les-Tours next week. She just wanted to see how it went at Stuttgart, although it would have been much better if she had come back at Tashkent.

My mistake then I thought I had read that she would be try and play qualifiyig for the bigger WTA tournaments because she felt that that way she would get some qualifying matches under her belt and in case she qualified she'd be able to get more ranking points so that it'll be easier to work her way back where she was ranked before her slump and injury. Good to know that she'll now be playing some smaller tournaments, hopefully that will allow her to play more matches and get some confidence.

She's between a rock and a hard place. She had no chance of qualifying here, but can you imagine how demoralizing it would have been to lose first round at Tashkent?

Not if she drew someone like Peng or Akgul

I think it adds to the disappointment when you travel to the lowest tier on tour which is also taking place in a really remote country.

 Misa has played (and won) Tashkent before. Still would have been a better choice for her to play there, as she had a much better chance to get a lower ranked player. And hey, she's now dropping down to $50k and $100k ITFs, so I don't see why playing a tier 4 would be so bad?
