both wozniacki and cornet have had excellent 1st full seasons on the main tour and will both end up in the top 20. which player had the best ranking at the end of her 1st full season?

(i don't know the answer but would like to know if any stats experts out there have the answer)

And now both of them are tired, exhausted and in horrible form :o Plus I wouldn't be sure with that "top20" end for any of them...And of course Caroline will end higher than Alize, mostly thanks to wiser schelduling.

sorry, you're right about wozniacki. i thought she was still a junior in 2007 but that was 2006  so her 1st post-junior season was 2007. cornet was still a junior in 2007 so this is her 1st full season.

actually i'm really confused now  because wozniacki is younger! so why didn't she play any junior events in 2007?

Cornet also played only at RG and AO...Actually Cornet started single carreer earlier than Wozniacki, and never really paid attention to junior results.

I only hope weak form of both ATM won't affect their 2009 season...

Monica Seles finished her first full year at No. 6 at only 15 years old.

Venus' first season was 1997. So, yes. She reached the finals of the US Open, and I think the quarterfinals of Indian Wells and Zurich or Moscow.

Serena beat Seles, Pierce, and Davenport, and had a matchpoint against Hingis in her first year on Tour!

Well, the first year Evert played 2 slams (Wimbledon and the US Open), she was 17 years old, but she was already 'ranked' in the top 10, so that's a little hard to qualify. Suffice it to say, the only player who had a near-comparable first three seasons would be Seles.

Larcher de Brito is much younger than either of them, and she hasn't been playing any Junior events either. A matter of choice.
