is it a new frame of just a new paint job, the yonex rds 001 looks different now than when it was 1st released but the frame is still the same.

its an easy way for racket companies to make money by 'repackaging' a frame.

Ana said that it's a lighter racket, by about 20g. And it can generate more head speed.

Judging by the pictures, it does look like another racquet. I don't know if I'm seeing things here, but the head looks bigger.

i can't tell anything from the pictures lol. im not sure more head speed is a good thing for her, i would think she would be better switching to the RDS 001 (lena d's racket). it's a very worrying thing that shes switched rackets in the season as if she continues to lose with this frame where does she go from there? does she go back to the old frame which she was losing with and it will take her time again to get back used to it, or does she stick with the new frame hoping it will all fall into place?

I don't know really... We had some talks about the racquet in Ana's subforum. Her old racquet was quite heavy, but very head light (9 pt.) and all the power had to be generated by herself. I wonder sometimes if that didn't play a part in her thumb injury, as it was said that she had developed small cysts in the thumb joint. Maybe that's one of the reasons, I don't know. Yonex has stated that this new racquet was created specially for Ana, with help from her team, so I guess they ordered it with something in mind.

The especifications may hint in a loss of control, which could be worring in these error prone days. Though I actually think that has much more to do with her total lack of confidence.

I would be very, VERY surprised if this new racket is 20g lighter than previous one, cause in tennis terms that's BIG difference. Why would someone who was doing well, suddenly decide to make such a drastic change?!

unless she's been paid a tonz of money for that :tape:

Yeah, I think a bottom heavy, top light racquet would cause thumb problems, so I think that's the main reason for the racquet change. I don't think it has anything to do with her slump.
