I'm surprised none of my fellow Brits made a thread about this :(

It started yesterday and it was the guys who went first. Austin got a 9  He was good though.

I think Rachel Stevens will probably do the best out of the women, but I have a feeling a male celeb will win this year. Possibly Austin or Mark Foster. The women didn't appear that good last night during the group performance. Last year you could tell the women would be better, but this year they seem behind. But we'll have to wait until next week to see how good they are.

I want John Sergeant to do well  :o

Anyone else watching it this season?

STRICTLYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loves it!

I can't believe there isn't a thread already 10000 posts deep...

I'm so glad there are more couples this year, gives more of a cushion in case people pull out like they have the past couple of years.

Oh - - and the reason why I searched for this thread in the first place.

Is it true Mark Foster and Colin Jackson have been together for years?!?!

~Cherry*Blossom~
Sep 25th, 2008, 06:18 PM
Mark Foster is gay? I never knew that. I always assumed that Colin Jackson was.

I like the new guy Brian. Claudia made him cry on It Takes Two :awww:

-Sonic-
Sep 26th, 2008, 08:56 AM
Brian - He has an interesting face, I'll give him that!!

I've not warmed to Mark's partner Hayley... I think she gave him a bit of a dud dance last week. Hopefully she'll get more into it as she gets more comfortable.

Gillian looked a bit pants in the group dance last week, I hope she gets it together otherwise Anton will have had 2 duds in a row, awww.

I didn't know he was gay either, I just got that from digital spy. Its really sweet if they are together though :)

That's what I heard from quite a long time back. I think they make a cute couple

John was so sweet in his first dance :awww:

I expected better from Mark, the dance was pretty boring. I agree Sonic re: Hayley Holt.

I don't like Ian Waite so like him to get voted off as soon as is possible.

He goes to my local gay bar and thinks he's so cool. Plus he's mates with this guy I've wanted to pull for years so naturally he's evil.

My mate went up to him and he spun her around, strictly style. She was all excited and dragged me over to him, and he sooo couldn't be bothered with talking to me, so yeah, I like him to lose lol.

Thats what they want u to think haha.

I am such a loser, I might stay in tonight and watch strictly and then the x-factor instead of going out, eeek. maybe i'll just do the pub after.

Hope the woman from the One Show does well - - I make my housemates watch that all the time.

I want her to do well too, mainly because she is with Matt Cutler and after last year he is my fave male professional dancer!

I really hope Karen Hardy stays in for a while. She's been shafted ever since winning though  I guess that's the price of getting someone like Mark Ramprakash one year, you're screwed afterwards!

I love "SCD"! (And I love the Claudia spin-off show on BBC2 during the week - I love Claudia Winkleman. :) She has the most awesome shoes... )

I'm supporting John Sergeant this year (he just seems like such a clever, engaging man, and his partner Kristina seems adorable) and Rachel Stevens (nothing against Rachel at all, but it is more that I am supporting her partner Vincent Simone. I am a fan of his, and I felt so sorry for him after what happened with Flavia and Matt last year). I pretty much like everyone, and I think it takes some courage to go out there and dance in front of millions of people like that... (I can't imagine the nerves... I just... can't... :o imagiiiine... :scared: ;) ) (I'd love to be able to dance, but I can't exactly walk in a straight line, never mind anything else... *blush* ;) )

Good luck to everyone's favourites, and keeeeep dancing... :)

"John is a very important & well respected man in the UK." :rolls: She is indeed really sweet. I'm not sure if i'll like Rachel. She seems a bit bland in the personality dept. But Vincent cracks me up (he & Louisa are one of my fave couples ever on the show), so I hope they stay awhile. Love Christine's accent & she seems sweet & I love Matt Cutler so I hope they do great too :)

Marshmallow :worship:

I thought Rachel was definitely the best. It looked like she was in week 3, whilst the rest looked like week 1.

I expected Lisa Snowden to be better, but she was average.

Bruce calling Jessie Wallace "Jelly" was apt :tape: She sucked!

Jodie Kidd has amazing legs and looked so good when she kicked. I was stunned at how high she went!

I like Brian :o He looks weird during the VT but on the dancefloor there was something about him :o His choreography was great too. Heather looked pissed at the start, but when I saw the start of the routine I thought she was just trying to get in character. But then afterwards she still looked pissed  She was good though.

Christine was very good. I think Matt got lucky for the second year in a row.

Gillian was better than I thought. I was thinking another Kate Garraway, but she was ok.

I didn't see Cherie Longie because I switched to the X-Factor. Managed to catch the end of the group dance though.

-Sonic-
Sep 28th, 2008, 03:58 AM
What are they playing at, overlapping Strictly and X-Factor?!?

I thought Jodie was rubbish, but I would. She just kicked a bit and then looked pants, kicked and bit more, and then kicked again for luck. I get it, she's tall, jeez.

My favs for the night were Christine, Cherie, Heather and Rachel. Didn't really get to see Lisa Snowdon as I was taking stuff outta the oven etc. Could take or leave Gillian or Jodie, and I feel a bit sorry for Jessie but she wasn't amazing. Felt they laid into her a bit too much.

In that group dance, that REALLY showed me how rubbish Hayley Holt is - it was shocking. She needs to get her act together!!!

Liked the matching shirts on the blokes too, I want a royal blue one.

Mark was soooo stiff in that group dance :tape: Was loving Don! He really loosened up. Gary was horrible as usual. John did really well

I wasn't really overwhelmed with the female celebs. I really enjoyed Heather's dance. Cherie was good, but I can't root for anyone paired with James Jordan :o Lisa was a bit of a let-down. Jodie was actually better than I thought.

Sep 28th, 2008, 10:51 PM
I didn't see Gillian going! But I guess that Jessie left Eastenders a few years ago, whilst Gillian left like 10 years ago or something.

Hayley Holt is lucky she said she is going out with the New Zealand rugby captain! If she said Dan Carter then it would have been on :armed:

-Sonic-
Sep 29th, 2008, 12:39 PM
Jodie (& Ian ) in bottom two, yay!

Hayley was pants in the group dance, again, but she redeemed herself somewhat in her dance with the other new dancers. But yeah, the fact she's snagged herself a rugby player just made me hate her again. She just can't win with me heheheheh. Mark was wooden as a plank :tape: bless 'im. He looks like my mate Simon when he dances.

Are they doing an all-men episode next week again? Ugh. I like it when I can sit through 12 dances like a loser and make my housemates be quiet thru them all!

Vincent's long term partner in the bedroom as well as the ballroom was fellow pro dancer Flavia Cacace, until she had a fling with her celebrity partner from last year, Matt. Vincent has always been a terrible flirt, but he's definitely cranked it up a few notches now he's single

I've only watched bits of the last few years of SCD because I'm an X Factor kinda girl but I'm trying to watch this from the beginning for once. Or as much as I can when X Factor isn't on at the same time (I wish they'd stop doing that!).

They should make the results on the same night again as well. That hour long show last night was so padded out! I'm not surprised Gillian left though. Anton is annoying and just not as sexy as the other male dancers. Can you imagine even Alesha winning with Anton? Wouldn't happen. He's too much like an uncle at a wedding :p

I did find it hard to believe how someone so softly spoken etc could be straight. I mean that in a good way, cos I find him completely adorable. I'd make a perfect husband for him, we'd be amazing.

Seriously why can't the BBC just cancel Merlin and show Strictly at that time, or ITV start 15 minutes late :(

Austin was very good today, as was Don and that doctor guy.

I used to have a big crush on Austin in his playing days :p and I just love his name :p His jive was great, and for a 2nd dance  the one to beat at the moment. Tom Chambers is so camp when he dances :o those hands...

Gary :spit: the way he was counting his steps, and I swear there was a bit where he forgot what he was doing. But I fear he will get the sympathy vote & stay

Mark :o He seems like a nice guy, but he just can't dance well. His height it way too much of a hinderance. And that bit at the start, it looked like Frankenstein stomping away :o

John  I enjoyed the Tango, but he just couldn't not smile :rolls: his post dance comments were hilarious something about his dance exuding "passion and raw sexuality" :rolls:

Andrew :spit: I was diastracted by his ass sticking out for the entire dance.

Don & Lilia :hearts: Love them. The best Tango of the night. Love their partnership & I will be so pissed if they are in the bottom 2!

Cherie was great. I think I'm actually starting to like James because of her

Lisa was good, I actually like her Rumba better than Cherie's but apparently she stumbled at the start so only got 32.

Cherie was good as was Lisa. I actually like Rachel's dance too, but the judges didn't think to highly of it. She still got 30.

Alesha was great! I kinda like the song now after seeing that performance.

Don shouldn't have gone :fiery: He was so much better than Heather in the dance off. Heather looked so stiff. She can't shake her hips. It looks awful. How the judges thought she did well in the dance off baffles me!

I guess the shirt helped Mark stay in. He really should go.

Considering how good X-Factor was this week, I doubt many of you watched SCD :( I missed the start and only saw the scores that Christine got and I was shocked when Craig gave her a three. Was she really that bad?

I thought Rachel was really good. I thought her dance was better than Austin's and that holby city man. I hope John stays :awww:

Heather was much better this week. I thought Jodie was very entertaining too. The judges were a bit harsh on her, except Craig

Cherie went flying at the start. It looked so clumsy. But when she actually dances she looks like a natural.

Mark Foster to go please :tape: He was so bad! The promise of seeing you in your speedo for the final dance isn't enough for me to keep watching you dance.

watched up until the X Factor started so i missed Jodie and Rachel, probably some others too but i can't think who

Christine wasn't great, but Craig was being extremely harsh this week  i believe a 2 was dished out somewhere as well  probably for Mark Foster, a man who has done the impossible and make Gary Rhodes look like a natural mover :o

Glad Mark went. He is horrid on the dance floor. Is it just me or are this season's celebs really bland  You have very good dancers but they all seem dull, even Rachel. Last year you had Alicia & Kelly. Gethin came out of his shell. Matt was a nervous wreck all the time and Letitia Dean was really fiest with the judges.

I loved Jodie's dance. I thought it was beautiful :awww:

Lisa was the best. She looked amazing in that dress.

I thought Rachel's dance was really good, much better than the 32 she got. I think the judges are being too harsh.

I think Len got carried away with Austin saying he wanted a 10. I don't think he was the best tonight.

Tom's Paso face was :rolls: That dance was overmarked. He seriously needs to stop mentioning his wedding :o

Jodie's dance was my fave of the night. Gorgeous :awww: Feh @ Craig saying it was too "Mills & Boon"

Disappointing from Heather again. It's a shame as I like her partnership with Brian, but she can't seem to bring it on the dancefloor. She is so stiff.

Yeah, I think the judges favourites are Tom and Austin, they are being too lenient on their scores with those two. Tom looked like a plank when he was dancing.

I think they are being too harsh on Rachel though.

Heather was rubbish, but she usually always is. She's only had two good dances.

Andrew and Heather in the bottom with Andrew going.

I'm surprised that Andrew didn't make it further. Not because he is good but because I thought he had more fans from GMTV. I guess they all went to John Sergeant

I can't stand Rumba, but Rachel & Vincent's Rumba was hot. Deserving of their scores.

I love Jodie & Ian too, they are such a great partnership & have so much fun. Funny, b/c I wasn't expecting to like Jodie at all at the start of the series.

Loved Austin's Tango :worship: Tom was as cheesy as ever. Totally agreed with Craig when he said the performance was all about him (as always).

Lisa's Samba was cute. Christine's Waltz was nice. Cherie did a better job in the Latin (great legs!), but it shouldn't've been marked higher than Lisa. James was annoying backstage ("the judges were reall harsh" *whine*.

At least John was half decent this week

That's a shame for John. A lot of people clearly enjoyed watching him but the judges made such a big deal of it he's felt obliged to leave. I saw old Arlene crowing on the BBC Breakfast show about what a travesty it was as if it was some sort of miscarriage of justice  It's not that important, love :p

Although John was clearly having fun, most people were probably jealous at how popular he was because for as much as this is a fun dance show you can see sheer hard-faced determination in some of them. I think Rachel in particular would walk over broken glass to win this and get an Alesha-style career comeback.

~Cherry*Blossom~
Nov 19th, 2008, 06:04 PM
I feel more bad for Kristina. This was her first year on the UK show and she had to pull out.

I think John quit mainly because of the professional dancers. I think after James said that this is a dance show that probably made John think about it and withdraw. I don't think the judges had much to do with it. Even though they all complained about him, I don't think John really cared about what they had to say.

On It Takes Two I think he alluded to the fact that it was the other dancers who were taking it too seriously and didn't think he deserved to be there.

Did Alesha not receive a score of 40 at any stage last year? I remember she set the record for getting the most 10s but I don't think she ever got a single 40 :o

~Cherry*Blossom~
Nov 23rd, 2008, 04:26 PM
No she never got a 40 :(

Her Cha Cha first got 39/40. In the final she got 38/40 (she messed up a bit). Len was a proper DICK when it came to Alesha's Viennese Waltz in the final. He gave her a 9 and she only got 39/40. I think both Gethin and Matt got 40/40 last year. However, Alesha is the dancer to have score the most 10's in a series.

IMO, Alesha's Viennese Waltz was the best dance I have ever seen on Strictly, just a beautiful routine. I prefer it to Jill's jive.

LOL, this is hilarious.

You've been tango'ed!
Strictly vote fiasco means they've ALL gone through
By Paul McNamara and Tom Latchem, 14/12/2008

ALL three couples in Strictly Come Dancing will be in next week’s final—after reality TV’s biggest cock-up.

Viewers were left in confusion as the BBC1 show’s hosts Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly offered NO explanation after the dance-off was axed last night.

All yesterday’s millions of votes will be carried over to next week’s final—when Tom Chambers, Rachel Stevens and Lisa Snowdon and their pro dance partners will all compete in the final.

But the News of The World can reveal the full inside story of the fiasco—which is a severe embarrassment to the BBC.

It happened after Rachel and partner Vincent Simone and Lisa with Brendan Cole wowed judges with their tangos to tie in first place with the judges’ votes. Tom and partner Camiller Dalllerup were bottom.

An insider said: “Because of the way the internal voting system of combining judges' and viewer votes works, it meant the two girl celebs each had THREE points and Tom had ONE.

“But it meant that even if Tom received the most viewer votes, he could only have got FOUR points. If either Rachel or Lisa received the least viewer votes, they would have got one point, making their total four points too—the same as Tom.

"So there was NO WAY for Tom to escape the dance off, and the viewers that voted for him would have wasted their money.”

With each vote costing a minimum of 15p, BBC chiefs faced a huge scandal if they had not abandoned the eviction as potentially, millions could have wasted their cash trying to keep Tom in.

BBC chiefs were left red-faced last night because they failed to give viewers ANY explanation for the fiasco in the second of last night’s two shows. They later released a statement to the News of the World.

It said: “The vote opened just before the first programme went off air. So we made a decision that the fairest option to all of our dancers was that all the votes cast will stand and be carried through to next week’s final.”

The BBC insider added: “It’s GCSE maths for heaven’s sake – I can’t believe that Strictly hadn’t thought this through.

“This is the biggest show on the BBC on its second biggest night of the year and the whole thing has gone horribly wrong.

“Brucie, Tess and the judges are absolutely furious. They can’t believe that such an idiotic mistake has been made. They have all been made to look like complete laughing stocks.

“What made matters far, far worse is that viewers were kept in the dark.”

The BBC were alerted to the scandal by the News of the World after we were tipped off about the mix-up during the first show. Producers then realised the error.

An emergency meeting was called - and it was decided they had no choice but to abandon the dance off. When viewers tuned into the second show, they were immediately told that phone lines had been frozen.

An estimated audience of 11 million viewers tuned into the 9pm results show and watched as the fiasco unfolded.

But it was not till the very end of the show that the contestants discovered that none of them would be evicted and would go through to next week’s final. They all looked stunned and bewildered.

BBC chiefs are now investigating how they misled viewers so badly.

The Strictly judges quickly realised the error and were involved in a huge bust-up behind the scenes as producers were alerted to the fiasco.

But the catastrophe could all have been easily avoided. Our insider explained: “If they had just awarded both Rachel and Lisa two points, instead of three, this would never have happened.”

Angry fans posted complaints on the show’s message board. One wrote: “'They really should have told the public that their vote for Tom wouldn’t count. Simple maths.”

I don't care if it was guaranteed he'd be in the bottom he should have gone. He was shit! He was doing Week 3/4 routines in the semifinal

Also Tom is the only person remaining who collects his wages from the BBC and they always like one of their own winning. Lisa wont win since she only works for LivingTV and Rachel may win but I think the final 2 will be Tom and Rachel.

Also last night confirmed my thought that Camilla is a poor Pro dancer, her choreography is terrible and she looked a little sloppy during the jive.

Tom should have went but the BBC continue to try and rigg the competition to keep their own in as long as possible, at least ITV dont mess up the system on Dancing on Ice.

LISA TO WIN
but i doubt she will.

whereas Rachel managed to turn a steamy number into something deeply unerotic, how does she do that?!
I KNOW! I was bored to tears during her AT :tape: I can't believe it got a standing ovation. I must be watching something else to the judges, b/c all in all she & Vincent have no passion or chemistry imo. The only time there was genuine passion was the Rumba.

Camilla's choreography was/is horrible. I was really hoping Tom would get the boot & he was in the dance-off, probably with Lisa (as she seems less popular than Rachel). Lisa got a perfect score, so she would've gone through. So close, but yet snatched away

I find it hard to believe that Lisa & Rach have had perfect scores, whereas Alesha didn't :o

Lisa to win. If not, Rachel. Just anyone but Tom!

With the BBC giving refunds to those who voted last week, does that mean that those votes don't count?

I find it unfair that people are getting refunds but their votes are still going to count for this week :(

Tom would be the worst winner ever!

Lisa to win. If not, Rachel. Just anyone but Tom!

I agree :yeah: My support is usually the kiss of death though, so Tom will probably win.

I couldn't really care about this final. They all pale in comparison to the lovely Alesha. Saying that, I guess if I had to pick I'd go for Lisa. Jessie Wallace was just on :tape:

This season has just been BULLSHIT!

Firstly the over marking. Alesha didn't score one 40/40, even on her Cha Cha but List and Rachel both have scored 40/40 two/three times. Lisa got 40/40 for her cha cha tonight :tape: Talk about :bs:

And now the biggest piece of bullshit just landed on our screen. Tom made it into the final two over Lisa  :bs: What a joke. Yes I didn't think Lisa deserved 40/40 for the cha cha but both her dances were miles better than Tom's and she still didn't make it  The judges gave her 80/80 tonight and that still wasn't enough.

Watch Tom win this now. It is such a disgrace that he's still in the competition let alone him actually winning it :fiery:

I like Tom, and Rachel.

And I loved this season. :hearts: Last season only really had Matt and Alesha as potential winners, whereas this season had a better bunch of dancers overall imo.

And Rachel is as good a dancer technically as Alesha, but just doesn't have the personality/fire that Alesha had.

Having the past champions perform together was amazing though. Jill and Alesha :hearts:

This show is a disgrace at least I can look forward to Dancing on Ice now, ITV never seem to go out of their way to favour any particular couple.

Well done to Tom but it really should've been Lisa and Rachel in the final two. They did a better semi final and first part of tonight's final than Tom. Lisa was really fantastic tonight it was such a shame she got voted out first, but the public loved Tom.

I actually voted for Rachel both times tonight . She was the better dancer over the whole series and she's just sooo lovely too :awww: Actually they were all pretty likeable this year.

:bounce::bounce: So glad Tom won. He wasn't the best but at least them 2 bitches didnt get their hands on the trophy. This series wasn't so good, Alesha is still the best yet and not even she got as many top marks as Lisa and Rachel. I dont think they'll ever top Alesha, just like the X Factor will never find anyone better than Leona... maybe time to knock both shows on the head

Tom hasnt improved like Lisa so why didnt we just pick the winner on week one if that is the attitude of the viewers

He is so arrogant and Camilla is one of the worst pro dancers on the show.

I think he's a better entertainer, and evidently so do the majority of those that voted... its an entertainment show afterall. If she was one of the worst there I doubt they'd keep inviting her back... shes been to the semi's twice and now won it. Plus her freestyle routine was the best of the 3 finalists, even the 'knowitall' judges thought so.

Tom's show dance was definitely the best of the night and his best dance of the series. I just feel so bad for Lisa, she was leading after the judges' scores and still managed to be voted out first. Her show dance was awful though, but maybe it would've been better if she was dancing for the trophy. There should've been a dance-off after the first 2 dances imo.

I hated all the showdances, they were all a bit boring actually.

And I wish Camilla would take her hair out of her face

She made have made semis twice before but she is not up to the standard of Lilia, Kristina or Karen as a pro dancer imo. Like Lilia managed to get two complete non dancers who werent natural dancers to the final, Camilla has never done that.

It seems a bit ridiculus that Tom won after the socres that Rachel and Lisa got. Makes a mockery of this show. The best dancer didn't win. It came down to the farce of the semi final.

they might as well have let John Sargeant win

Lisa should have won :armed:

Judging purely by the showdances, then yes the right decision was made in Tom winning. His dance showed more personality and originality than Rachel's which was just snooze inducing  Vincent really went out of his way there :o Lisa and Brendan's was terrible as well. Just really awful. Still, nothing could compare to the dramatic performance of Alesha's showdance last year ;)

I knew Tom was the winner a few weeks back. What a crock. He was the weakest dancer in the semis & the finals, but yet because he had the public backing because of his "personality" he still wins

The judges did everything to boost the girls by over-inflating their scores, but even that didn't work. I like Lisa, but she wouldn't even make in into the top 5 female celebs on SCD, so for her to get the first perfect 80/80 is embarrassing.

Tom's showdance was a crowd pleaser, so it was clear he had it in the bag. I thought Rachel's was still a bit bland. Too many lifts & practically zero dance content. Felt a bit sorry for her when she fell at the end though :o

Lisa's showdance was just cringeworthy :o I knew Brendan would have problems lifting Lisa, b/c he could barely lift Natasha in their showdance in series 1 :o

I thought James & Ola dancing was really random, so it makes me wonder if that was their last dance on the show? I'd be happy to see the back of James, but I like Ola.

Was so happy to see Austin & Erin get to do their whole Jive, and with that lift as well :yeah: He should've been in the final.

I missed Jodie :sobbing:

The returning winners group dance really showed up the three finalists.

People have started to complain about the result LOL!

Lisa and Rachel were not happy. Rachel was in bits and left the studio sharpish according to reports.

I can see why though, if you outscore the winner by 5-6 points then something is wrong.

He shouldn't have even been in the final! He should have been out it the semifinal but they messed up the scores. It's bullshit that he was in the final and even worse that he won.

I was watching Alesha's dances from last year. She only scored 38/40 in her quickstep and that was miles better than Lisa's who got 40/40  Rachel's waltz and viennese waltz are the two best ballroom dances of the entire show and she only got 39 and 38  The scores have been way too high this season.

I agree the judges always were giving 10s it was stupid.
