Yeah I was quite surprised not to see Lindsay in the list but she usually only played Tokyo, IW, Miami, San Diego and Zurich in her prime time.

So If Safina wins this title she'll be among those big names. Wow. And then she'll have a great change to make it four, since the last Tier I of the year is at home. Go Dinara!.

prestigious list. Thanks Kworb :)

Safina's got a good shot at making this list.

For Serena, it all comes down to Moscow

It is strange Lindsay didn't get on the list.

Admitedly, she could rule out Charleston, Rome and Berlin right away... she also seemed to favour certain tier 2's over tier 1's in her usual schedule.

I can't be bothered to look, but I assume she got 2 on multiple occasions.

Only Henin and Hingis have won more than three Tier I tournaments in one season. Only Hingis has won more than half of the Tier I tournaments in one season. It's important to say that 2008 is last season with "Tiers"... so only Safina or Serena will join this list winning Tokyo (Safina) or Moscow (Safina or Serena).

Except 3+ tier-I titles in one season list also is interesting list of 3+ seasons in the row with tier-I titles:

Steffi Graf (1988-1996)
Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario (1992-1996)
Conchita Martinez (1993-1996)
Monica Seles (1995-1998)
Martina Hingis (1997-2000)
Serena Williams (2001-2004)
Justine Henin (2002-2005)
Lindsay Davenport (2003-2005)
Maria Sharapova (2005-2008)
Ana Ivanovic (2006-2008)

Because 2008 is last season with "tier's" only Elena Dementieva (2006-2008???) can join this list if winning Moscow/08 tournament next month (Kremlin Cup 2008 will be last Tier-I tournament in WTA history).

Lindsay skips regularly most of the tier 1's(berlin,moscow,charleston,montreal ) and for those tier 1's that she usually plays(IW,Zurich,Tokyo), she owns them.
As for rome,miami- she also plays them occasionally.

So, if your playing only an average of 4 Tier1's a year, Its very understanble that she is not on the list.

then Venus and serena used to go the distance and avoid each other, they never entered the same tournies, serena had the tier 1s and venus tier 2s. If they had been in the same tournies alll along ther h2 h might have been something like 20/21
