Wozniacki/Cibulkova 2r :o horror show right there.

Radwanska or Kuznetsova wil make the top half final. Li or Schiavone will beat Safina, and if Srebotnik doesn't upset Jankovic, I'd imagine Zvonareva v. Jankovic decides the top half finalist.

It's a solid draw. I like it.

Sep 20th, 2008, 08:38 PM
Well, Cornet isn't the best on hardcourts, so Ana has a chance to win. Radwanska could certainly give her hell at this time though :scared:

I think we'll see Jankovic or Safina contest the final against Kuznetsova.

Malva
Sep 20th, 2008, 08:52 PM
I don't know who will win Beijing but I know who will not: Agnieszka Radwańska. After seeing her new level of game in her match against Bartoli, I began to believe that she can now beat practically anybody, independently of whether that player plays well or not. But she has a serious problem to overcome: her absolutely regular pattern of relaxing mental mobilization after the first difficult hurdle has been taken in the tournament.

To say it in one sentence: she can beat any one top player, but not two in succession, unless that second match is the Final. For the Final she seems to be always mobilized.

Mental pressure kills most players. Paradoxically, Radwańska is a player who thrives on mental pressure. She loses against an in-form top player with probability 1 when she doesn't go to bed the night before fully mobilized. And vice-versa.

Why "so called"? You mean every top player Srebotnik beats is not a real one, don't you? So, if I follow your logic, Serena, who got her behind whooped in straight sets in RG by Katarina, is a so called top player?

Dude, you better shut the hell up, you have no business in talking since your brain is full of sea water.

My vote goes to Ivanovic. I mean, it's high time to wake up and she knows it. Plus, all the others are prolly tired at this point.

Just how is a possible Wozniacki/Cibulkova match a horror show?

If Ivanovic beats Cornet, I like her chances to make the final on the bottom half. I think Kuznetsova will be too tired to make a 2nd straight final.

Hmmm...I think Safina will make make the top half final based on sheer willpower even if she is a bit tired. I think she would lose early in her next tournament the following week though unless she withdraws from it. On the off chance that Safina is too tired, I think Jankovic would make the top half final.

to be honest im not expecting much from saf in beijing, she may be tired but she may not be and lets hope she wins her matches with relative ease. If the post-match interview from Tokyo anything to go by, Safina will go to Beijing with even more desire and determination to improve and win more more more!

Right now Safina is playing like an unstoppable express train. Tiredness won't be an issue the way she breezed past her last two inform opponents. I really don't see anyone capable of beat Dinara right now, aside from maybe Serena, and I'm not even sure about that, if Dinara plays like she has the last couple of days. For months people have been waiting, anticipating, that this hot streak has to end. Instead, she just seems to be getting hotter.

I hope Safina withdraws. She has played an awful lot and it's hurt her in the past year. The number one position is not going anywhere; Serena will not go on a rampage and start playing everywhere to keep it. She needs to take a break after a big tournament like this and be ready to come back for the next one.

There's lots of time to become no. 1.

Edit: Oh, she did. Good thinking, girl.
