After a very good match yesterday a total reversal today: Agnieszka's worst defeat I can remember. That's new and unexpected. I am afraid Agnieszka felt too good after her yesterday's emphatic victory against Marion and underestimated Nadia, while Nadia approached the match totally focused on her goal and did everything right today. In the second set Agnieszka played awful at times. That's new too. I hope she draws some necessary lessons from this less than expected defeat.

:hearts: @ Petrova for looking miserable despite always leading most of the time.

This is called to stay focused, in case you don't know there is such thing. When one approaches difficult tasks, one usually needs to stay focused. Sounds new to you, I suppose.

Nadia has shown some signs of being her old self since Eastbourne, but her only win was in Cincy.
She needs to do this at majors, she might still be a threat next year.

Looks like Nadia really wanted this one bad after losing to Aggie at Eastbourne. She actually did well there against her but I didn't expect Nadia to really put the beat down on her.

I'm not shocked by the result, Nadia is a good player who is capable of beating other good players but the manner of it is quite a stunner. Nadia is suddenly looking like a top 10 player again after being in the type of form that gets you into "who is in a bigger slump" type polls earlier this year. Just goes to show slumps don't normally last forever just as purple patches don't normally last forever either.

As for Aga, not much to say. Just a bad day at the office. Best forgotten. It happens. (but hopefully it won't happen too often ;))

At least my second/third favorite Russian is kicking ass this tournament.

Rezai-Ivanovic-Radwanska, and she's 5-0 against Safina. Maybe she can do something here? That would be so amazing. Her third Tier I win would just be incredible after how she started this year.

I only watched the first two games, but I saw the score was 3-3 then fell asleep. Yikes. :tape: Try not to get bageled too much more, Isia.

Agata.
Sep 19th, 2008, 01:16 PM
poor Aga  so unexpected for me

It seems to me that she needs to become more consistent, still too young and unexperienced to keep up a good form. After a great match against Marion, Aga according to you (unfortunately I wasn't able to watch this match :() just totally "forgot" how to play good in tennis. Too bad, but sometimes happens

My dream final Jelena vs. Aga was ruined :(

On the other hand- well done Nadia ;)

Honestly? I expected Aga will lose, as Nadia is in very good form lately. But not 3 games :tape: Especially when she won her last 2 matches very high, and seemed to be in good form. I hope she is not another Polish player who will suffer mental problems after such a good start of career

Now, does anyone believe me that Aga is pathetic and the top 10s a joke with her in it?

Absolutely not!

She just has a lot to work on at the moment. She still wins matches, good matches.

She deserves a spot in the top 10! :)

and people here are claiming radwanska is the new hingis or hingis 2.0 :haha:

Hingis never had a bad day against a power player having a good day? Please.

Anyway, her informed fans know that she is not a Hingis 2.0, and don't refer to her as Hingis 2.0.
