I think Sesil is making progress. A few months ago she was playing 25Ks.

this means sesil is on the verge of the top 150, not bad for someone who played qualifying for the qualies of a 25k at the start of the year.

And in front of her home fans too. (Much to Sesil's regret, she'd have switched nationalities to about anything for the right price. Wonder how many ppl there were aware of that). :p

What does that have to do with the post you quoted? :o

Anyway, yes, that is a bad loss for Petra. Anyone with reason can see that just by looking at the rankings and results this year.

Obviously she's not leagues above Karatantcheva, if she's losing to the likes of Kutuzova in straights.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist.

That really doesn't make any sense. Petra is leagues above Sesil, everyone on this board knows it that has any knowledge of tennis. Petra is winning matches in WTA tournaments while Sesil is struggling to get out of $50k's.

I don't know why you are so bitter and brought that up, but I don't want to get into an argument with you because we have had many battles in the past and they have always ended badly. ;)

Whatever. If Kvitova was leagues above Katantcheva, she wouldn't be losing to the likes of VRP and no hopers like Kutuzova. End of story.

You probably have a different definition of what leagues above in tennis terms is anyway.

Kvitova > Karantantcheva.

Oooh. The side-kick has already arrived.

I guess we do have different opinions on the meaning of leagues above, so we should just end it now. And if by "side-kick" you mean "voice of reason and all that is sane", you are correct. :yeah:

I don't think Kutuzova is a no-hoper, I just think she needs a little time to find her consistency. She has random big runs where she shows that she is clearly a Top100 player, she just needs to learn how to sustain that level. I think she will get there in time.

How much time does she need?

She's been on the tour since she was 14, and she's now 20. That's six years of trawling through the ITF/WTA circuits without any major breakthrough. Early on, seemed like a major prospect and looked set to keep rising after a great performance against Dementieva at RG '06, then went into a complete hole and has never really come out of it.

Over the past two years she's lost to the likes of; Scheepers, Fitzpatrick, Mihalache, Pelletier, Ungur, Zahlavova, Uberoi, Chin Wei-Chan, and Kleinova. All journeywomen. Half of these losses were in straight sets. Just one would be alarming enough, but to lose to several of these players in the space of two years is rediculous. It's more than just consistency problems and I realised this awhile back. Vika's game clearly just has fundamental flaws and she's obviously a headcase (not that this aspect would matter all that much if her game was that much more consistent). Spectacular game, but highly flawed.

Even if she does make it back to the top 100, which considering how she can't string two good weeks in a row seems unlikely, she'll probaby never live up to the hype which she heralded at such a young age that was likely promised to her. I'd love if she did, but it's just not happening.

Two of my favs....
Sesil:kiss::kiss:
Petra is REALLY talented girl, I think she has a good potential to become Top 10 player if she keeps working like so far... I was amazed how clear she hits the ball using great power and her movement on the court is also great even tho she looks like she is overweight...

Oooh. The side-kick has already arrived.

Oooh. Mr. Bitter can only say that because Kvitova, in her first season, has already had a better career than the Sesilator, and will undoubtedly end up much better than her.

Yes, because I'm Sesil's biggest fan. I don't even like her that much

That's the best comebck anyone on WTAworld can come up with. Oh, they must be bitter because their fave lost, so anything they say is just bitterness. Not just pointing out the obvious fact that losing to Kutuzova in a challenger event means she isin't leagues above another challenger player. But sure, I'm just the deluded fanboy, thinking my faves are better than they really are. :tape:

Oh, and please do compare Karatantcheva's and Kvitova's first full years as pro's again, because Kvitova's has NOT been better.
