Its so hard to pick just 1 as there are many worthy contenders here!!!!!!!

I'll pick Chakvetadze just because she was so consistent last year and this year she is anything but. Plus she's lost her place in the top 10 because of it.

Well actually Kirilenko's year was not that bad (for her standards)

Chakvetadze..She has a weak form since her first tournament after US Open in 2008..And that's really long time...And I am a little bit surprised because I still don't know why did she drop so much..No injuries, good spirit after US Open where she finished in semis..It is interesting..

I hadn't seen much of Szavay last year, but I thought she was good of all what I heard.
Now she never really impressed me.
She lost even to Ana who played just as horrible as Rome, Montreal and US Open.
So actually I don't think it's much of a slump.

Vaidisova has the most potential of all and some results of her this year were beneath awful. So I think she should be 1st in this thread.

Chakvetadze should be 2nd. Although I really dislike her game, she should do better than this. Many bad losses and now she failed again in Tokyo. Glad for her she won Paris

Hantuchova 3rd. After many bad years, she found herself again in 2007.
IW, Linz win and reaching the masters. AO was pretty good, but strangely she falls back where she was in 2004-2006.

Peer is almost equal. Many unexplainable losses. She looked so good in the start of 2007. She could've come close to top 10.
But now it's getting no where.

Maria has a bad period. It looks like she had many slumps already, but still she's only 21. Hopefully it will go away with the years. But I can only hope.

Szavay,of course.
pathetic losses whrn she MUST win more matches against "inferiors" rivals:Dushevina Stockholm,Fedak GC,Makarova OA,Amanmuradova Bangalore,Kvitova RG,Morita Tokio,Garbin USO...

Princess Jokevetadze is a total mess.
However, so is Momo.

Both joint winners. Nicole is close 2nd, coz she had ( and still has ofc) so much potential with what she achieved at her age.

She got to the semis of the USO in 2007. This year she lost in the first round. I'd probably say her slump is the worst since she was so consistent last year.

this poll actualy made me happy, because chaky has come 2nd so far even though shes had the best year out of all the players listed. that to me says people see chakvetadze as better than these others and hold her in higher esteem and expect more from her. because if you look at the stats shes had the best year of the 'slumpers'

Only for a good one-week. :o . Did you ever watch her match in this year, apart from Paris? Such terrible, terrible form. Maybe it's her mental, i don't know. It's such a heartbreaking to see her loss to some unknown player, that she should have to beat easily.
But I still believe in her. It's like Kuznetsova medio 2005 to 2006. Slump after the great year. But then rise again. Come on Anna!

Why Mauresmo and Krajicek are not on the list? But if I chose one from that list, it's a toss up between Anna and Nicole. Both have great talent ... too bad, just too bad. :tape::mad::help:

Each one is bad for diff reasons. Chaky cuz of what happened during her break, Daniela because she started off the year so well and choked in the semis at AO. Vaidisova cuz she flat out can't play right now, Agi for the same reason.

So Disrespectful
Sep 17th, 2008, 04:17 AM
Respective of their actual abilities and past results:

1. Vaidisova
2. Chakvetadze
3. Hantuchova

The other 3 are borderline top 20 players who will probably never challenge for the top 5. Their drop in form wasn't as drastic.

Vaidisova finished in the year end top 15 3 straight years so I don't think she can be considered a one season wonder.

Definitely Nicole.

Anna is bad right now, but she has some good results this season despite being terrible. Daniela is still trying to find form after her injury, plus she has never been the model of consistency...too bad though because she had such a great (for the most part) 2006/2007.

Vaidosova definitely is in a slump.
She used to be a grand slam "contender" for awhile.

Mauresmo of course is in a slump.
Mirza has disappeared off the map.
Davenport
Ivanovic right now seems to be in a slump.

1. Chakvetadze (it's a real mess that she won in Paris and reach the final at Pilot Pen. Do not deserve that...)
2. Vaidisova (Impressive at Sydney but then... there is no reason...)
3. Szavay (Nobody knows what happen to this girl this year... she should defend her title in Baijing next week...)
4. Peer (There were a lot of points to defend this year and seem that she was too tired...)
5. Hantuchova (She is recovering from an injury but it's enough now... if she want to play, she should do it now)
6. Kirilenko (This is the best year for her... winning so many titles... Maybe need to find a boyfriend!)

Mauresmo and Hantuchova- They dont have any major injuries at all and yet they cant stay in top 10, considering we all know what they are capable of.

DutchieGirl
Sep 18th, 2008, 12:40 AM
Krajicek
Krajicek's been injured Dec07-Mar08, and now Jul08- end of Sep08 (when she plans to come back) - so while she didn't win matches at the start of the year (and really shouldn't have played in Dec or Jan), it was because she was injured for at least 3 months then, and when she came back she had no confidence. So yeah, I guess it is a slump, but it's more because of injury. If she could have played after Wimby, then she surely would not be so low ranked as now.

I think Anna's is the worst of the year.. she had established herself as a top player and then all of the sudden she fell off of the map. I know she has had some good results, but definitely not as consistent as last year. Hopefully she can recover from this slump soon.

Whoever suggested Venus has been in a slump in the last two years is foolish, yes she has under-performed at the French and Australian Open (with the exception of 2002 French and 2003 Australian Open), but she has never been solid in those tournaments. In the last year two years she has won Wimbledon twice and lost in the quarters and semis of the US Open, both times losing to the eventual champions and both times she was their toughest match of the tournament.

Vaidasova. The others are slumping badly too but none were hyped as much as her.
