Daniela ... I disagree that Daniela should stop playing this season. She needs practice and hopefully next season she will be back on track. I wish her the best of luck, I don't like seeing anyone having their career destroyed by an injury.

Dani was up 5-4 15-40. I think she needs to rake the season off because she isn't gonna be making it to any semis or finals with this form and she'll be losing quite a few points anyway.

But how would I have my fun on this board? It is really nice to log on and constantly be aware that you are going to see sucky Daniela results and her fans crying about wasted talent. Not aware, of course, that there never was any talent.

The epitome of mediocrity strikes again.

Well done Fran. :worship: A player of your calibre should never be losing to this rake.

Yes, I agree. Somebody really ought to steer her away from tennis alltogether. She should stick to picking up leaves and such.

Of course, Daniela must continue playing, she is not suffering from depression, simply cannot find her best form. She is a professional, there are lots of ranking points at stake. And what else you propose she should be doing? Commercials? Modeling? I am asking those who wish she retires for the rest of the season.

Ok I agree this season is bad for her but why she should retire? She is only 25 still time to achieve some good results and I am sure that she has potential to do it..She needs some rest and to be ok physically and mentally too..Look on her performance from 2007 - she was amazing and I believe that she will play like that in the future again :)

Keep deluding yourself. What's wrong with realizing what is otherwise obvious: she can't find good form. By doing this you are not betraying your favorite player.

I love how people are automatically righting off Daniela just because she is taken a little longer then normal to back from an injury layoff.

She just made the semi's last week in Bali. Sure, the draw was rather easy AND she kinda struggled, BUT she still made the semi's. If she was really struggling (like most of you are making out she is) she would have lost first round.

she has a lot to defend from now till end of February and it looks like she has lost the 07 form that got her into top ten.

I agree with you. I think people don't really think when they post, if i just gave up after trying a few times and everyone did the same what sort of world would we live in, come one now people lets get this together, she is coming from injury SHE CLEARLY IS NOT MATCH FIT and the only way to get that is to COMPETE.
Its also a lot of pressure to be injured and have to come back knowing you have to defend or loss your ranking, it would not be a bad idea to drop down the rankings get match fit with no pressure to defend points and bring it next year. The people writing her off ahve to remember she is the same payer who worked her way back into the top ten not so long ago.
Though i think mentally she needs to work on that and movement but being tall, not all tall people can run like Venus.

If Ana hadn't squeaked so much I don't believe a single thing would have change in Daniela's season. Maybe just maybe, Daniela might have lost in the final rather than the semifinal although I consider even that a bit far fetched. But what is more important is that squeaking or no squeaking nothing that happened in Australia would have prevented Daniela's heel injury which is the thing that has really wrecked Dani's season.

If you want to open another stupid thread in this forum, as if there aren't enough of them already, then go ahead, open a thread called ''If Ana Hadn't Squeaked So Much in Australia, Would This Season Have Been Different for Dani?''.

But if you want to open a far far more sensible thread may I suggest ''If Dani hadn't got her heel injury, would This Season Have Been Different for Dani?''. To that question I would answer with an emphatic "Yes, it would".

Chris, I was just kidding. :)

 Fair enough. :)

But it is fustrating when players come back from injuries and they take a while to regain form, and yet so many posters, and I don't mean you, don't seem to recognise that it is tough to recover after an injury break, and very often the affects of these injuries can linger for a long time after that a player has even started playing again.

I understand. I have no idea why I'd written that - it just came to mind after having read the fatalistic topic about the AO match between JJ and Tamira Paszek - and I meant no harm to poor Dani. I have no doubt she'll be back.

She needs match play and lots of it.
