Serena has a lot of points to defend. And Venus needs to stay away from those damn tier 3 events.

They'll both be in Stuttgart.

Do you think Venus likes to see Serena at # 1 and herself at # 8? She'll play and try to earn some points. And Serena, for obvious reasons, will want to end the year at # 1.

I think Serena will play Stuttgart, Kremlim Cup and the Yec to end the year as N#1
and Venus Stuttgart and hopefully the Yec

Serena has 411 points to defend, she will play one or two events...ranking isnt their priority...majors is :)

I actually hope they dont burn themselves out too much before YEC

I think both Venus and Serena are scheduled to play Stuttgart, Moscow and Zurich back to back and then the YEC!

After many years Serena will have one "full" season behind her which means in her case playing all biggest WTA events (except IW of course) and that for sure must include YEC championship which is playing at Rebound Ace Outdoors - according to Serena AO results between 2003-2007 it's her probably best surface. Also, i except of her to playing one Europian Indoor tournament like preparation for YEC b/c two months without competetive match is not good preparation.

Talking about Venus, i think she already started to prepare herself for Wimbledon 2009, so she maybe will played some WTA tournament before end of season... maybe not... but probably nothing serious. But next season i expect of her except Wimbledon and US Open to play seriously Beijing mandatory (same surface like US Open) and maybe even to try to doing something with Australian Opet b/c i think new surface more suits to her than rebound ace... atleast she is less afraid about injuries.

They're both entered for Stuttgart and Moscow, and in addition, Venus for Zurich. Hope they stick to those schedules.

If they remain healthy I think they will, especially Serena. I doubt she wants to give up the #1 spot to Jelena after working so hard to earn it.;) Depending on Venus' schedule for her other interests she might play one or two.
This is my wish to top off a satisfying season for the Sisters. Serena ends the year #1 and Venus play and win the YEC. Go Venus! Go Serena!:hearts:

Of course. Venus needs to get her ranking up. I don't understand why Venus has not played the hardcourt summer really the past few yrs. The tournaments from Wimbledon thru US Open are traditionally her biggest point getters and what she plays best at.

Serena will play more events than Venus, but they should both play at least 1 big event before the YEC.

she will ahve too, though is number 1 she still can lose that ranking player 2,3,4,5 have the ability to gain point in tier ones to take that number 1 spot from her. I can wait for the enw rules of next year to be in place this dropping out thing is just annoying, why say you are going to play and drop out because you won or played further in the tournament

Because she has been injured at that time for the past
few seasons. Usually after winning Wimbledon, she then
plays WTT or Fed Cup and then WTT and by the time others
are geared for the summer hardcourt season Venus is wound
down and battered and takes about a month to recover.

Anyways, Stuttgart, Moscow, Zurich are here events
scheduled before the YEC and hopefully she'll be well to play.
