Take this with a grain of salt, as it is from wikipedia but...

"Anastasia Andreyevna Myskina (Анастасия Мыскина; IPA: [ʌnəstʌˈsʲijə ˈmɨskʲɪnə]) (born July 8, 1981, Moscow, Russia) is a professional tennis player from Russia. In 2004 she won the French Open, becoming the first Russian female tennis player to win a Slam. Subsequently to this victory she rose to number 3 on the WTA ranking, becoming the first Russian female tennis player to reach the top three, since the ranking was created, in September of 2004 she reached at number 2, arriving very next to becoming the first Russian female tennis player to reach world number 1, but failed. She has not played professional tennis for fifteen months, and has subsequently fallen to world no. 417, as of 1 September 2008. She is set to return to professional tennis in 2009 and is a hopeful for a wild card for the Australian Open."

I couldn't tell you the truth in this, but Myskina is only 27, still time to shine!

Hmmm....the fact that in reality she doesn't have any ranking at all and fell out of the top 500 at year ago makes me pretty dubious. But obviously I would love to be proved wrong. Until, or more likely unless, that happens I will simply very cynical and expect nothing.

Doesn't she have a protected ranking?

That is a good point too. Yes she would have a protected ranking for sure...so she wouldn't need a WC. The person who wrote this bit in Wikipedia clearly didn't know the facts and has been to put it gently, telling fibs.

I think most injured players like Pierce/Myskina have their real rankings, and then their protected rankings.

I don't know. The way the article is written makes me think it's true. But it might not be; who knows. I hope it's true though.

Myskina's protected ranking would be 15 I believe. Where the number 417 came from is beyond me. I have to say the way this article is written certainly does not make me think it's true, quite the opposite.

I'm pretty sure that in her recent interview (was posted here) she said no come backs from her and she's done with tennis.

Sadly can't see it happening. It'd be good to have her back on the tour and she'd add something different, speaking her mind and all(btw I wonder what she thinks about JJ now  )

This is WRONG!

Nastya is unofficially retired. She recently said that she don't miss the tour so she won't come back

I'd like it so much though

I'd be happy if it was true...

I don't think it's gonna happen.

I tend to doubt she'll come back, but then again with Myskina black is white, except that sometimes it's actually black, unless it's lime green or electric pink.

Myskina's answers to question seem to often reflect her mood at the exact moment, and not any sort of long-term, deliberate decisions or ideas. It's just part of what makes her, her.
