Maybe because it's a Tier I 28 player draw

aw, a shame kimiko couldn't make it closer. Still a nice win over dellacqua, she picked up 15 ranking points, and she's playing the Tier III tokyo event later this month.

All these sum up my feelings too. It does feel like the end of a dream. I wish it had at least been closer. But that's life. :awww:

I'm sure Kimiko won't give up. :yeah:

And I like this post because it reminds me to hold on to the positives. It has been a good week with a win over a top 50 player, 15 ranking points and Kimiko isn't done yet. We can still look forward that Tier III later where hopefully the draw will be a little kinder to Kimiko. Thanks for reminding me of these things tennisfan5.

every player has lopsided losses and they rebound, Kimiko said before the tournament that she wasn't playing that well...she'll be fine.

Sad to see Date didn't finished the job and qualifyed but it has to come to an end at one point.Coming from 25k/50k it takes time to adapt to the next level (especially dealing with the difference of power). She still beat a top50 player and it should give her some confidence, no matter the loss today.

BTW anyone knows what will be her new ranking ?

Thanks.I think we'll see her in some slams next year (and i can see her entering the top100 again).
Incredible when you think about the context (her age, her limited schedule etc...).

loool yeah AMAZING win :lol: hope people stop the bullshit about Date now being a top 100 player. She has beaten an outform Dellacqua and got destroyed by Yonemura two weeks ago. Nice to see her play again but she has absolutely not the game to be in the top 100 anymore. Fact. :help:

Yonemura may have beaten Kimiko but Kimiko has also beaten her twice this year. Kimiko will learn from her losses. She is still new to the tour this year, still trying her hand at things and see if she can pick up things quickly. She still can get better, she's only just reusergencing.

There is no good spot for her to be placed, unfortunately; she gets Chakvetadze, Cornet, Wozniak or Petrova. Ends up being Cornet.
That is one TOUGH draw. Imagine if the Williams sisters were there. You'd practically be top20 and having to qualify.

Exactly and also it should be mentioned that Yonemura and Date-Krumm are pretty much dominating the Japanese ITFs and Yonemura recently won a 50k beating Tanasugarn. so that wasn't a bad loss and neither is this.

I can't remember seeing Xian, one of the most critical posters of Date post in the Dellacqua thread? Maybe he was forced to eat crow.

This was a good weekend for Kimiko anyway. End of.

:awww: Kimiko. I didn't expect you to win this match, but at least she gained experience playing a top 50 player. I could imagine going from playing mostly top 500 players to top 50 is a rough transition.

I think she'll do better at the end of the month when she plays the tier III event, even if she does get a WC in the MD. :yeah:

This is totally true! Very positive week end for her!

Anyway I don't think that Kimiko has any goal in this comeback, she achieved quite a lot already and all those wins can only be positive. Her experience may also serve to the whole Japonese team. As long as she enjoys it she should keep on playing. Who cares if she will be back in top 100? It's not the point. Really good to see her back in WTA events :yeah:. And if she stays healthy, she has a huge chance of playing qualies of the Aussie Open. FACT.

:D Aleks, well done. I'm really proud of Kimiko too, this was a great (if short) week for her and the only thing she can do is keep plugging along. I don't know if top 100 is possible, but 150 should be achievable and some more ITF domination.

No shame in this result especially after already beating Dellacqua and its great to see her back on the WTA tour again:yeah:.

Funny how people were saying how humiliating it was for Dellacqua to lose to Date but how excellent it is that Wosniak beat her. Let's see how good Wosniak is at 37. There should be nothing but praise for what Kimiko is doing.

wozniak these days is a consistent ball basher. Dellacqua was just a ballbasher with a bit more spin than others.

Aleks actually hits the ball a lot harder than Casey does and I think that is why Kimiko got killed. The canadian was probably the hardest hitting player she has face so far this year.

Still, it was a nice showing for the Vet and she still has doubles this week before the leaves and returns to Tokyo.

By the way folks is the Tier 3 event played at the same venue as this week?
