OMG so a preview clip of the entire season and it looks to be a fun ride. I am so excited for this season after watching it.

I think i am falling in love with this new Eric. :hearts:

... just wish the storylines would be more connected; this isn't a daytime soap, I don't want to care or follow 12 stories - I want one main plot (witches, which is good so far) and the main characters to be more involved in that than their tiny shit (like Season 2, which I didn't mind).

Glad that Tommy's scumbag parents finally got what they deserved.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Imagine one big storyline and it's a bust- then what? The multiple storyline format really works for this show. I do admit some of the stories lack at times, but I'm glad I'm never stuck in one long one...

This show is starting to get a little ridiculous with all the creatures and supernatural beings. Almost every single person in that town has some supernatural power now. Jason's storyline with the trailer trash panthers is just silly. And are they shifters who only transform into panthers or are they something entirely different? Speaking of shifters, now it's not only Sam who is one, but apparently, virtually the entire world can shift. In fact, there are so many of them out there, that Sam's formed a little shifters book club and even found a nice shifter girl to date.

I haven't read the books, so perhaps the show is just following them, but I think it would be better if they focused more on the vampire/human interactions and dynamic rather than every single person having some special ability.

It was much more appealing when it was just vamps & humans. Too many things going on in that town!

I think the point of a lot of people having some sort of secret power is an allegory or something. Like, everybody in a small town has their secrets. But there are more people in the town who don't have powers; we just don't get to see them because that wouldn't be very interesting, would it?

The werewolves are the vampire's deadliest enemy so their exposure is needed, having witches is fine, too :shrug: but the panthers and shapeshifters are over the top :o I never liked Sam and his story, either way.

Anyway, onto the episode I wanted some more zoom during the sex scenes everybody was waiting for :sobbing: Overall, another low-paced episode, I really hope that these few episode are just a built-up to some great, intense, breathtaking ones to come :cheer:

This season is taking whacko to a whole new level. As an avid fan of the novels I can't help but feel a smidge disappointed.

I agree on Marnie...I actually find myself rooting for her.

I just don't really care about what happens though and I think that's the problem. It just seem so slow and dreary.

I guess yeah; how many episodes left this season? I thought it picked up this one, but I want it to get even more intense the next few. Only story lines I don't care about are Sam/Tommy/Luna, and Andy. Oh, and Lafayette/Mexican wizards.

I think she was able to break free because Bill didn't put the extra silver on her because she was in so much pain. She's still a young vampire so Bill probably thought it was enough to keep her down.

Marnie showed her potential bitch-tude.

This show bores me to death. Its like Buffy The Vampire except without the fun and less sex.

One of the better episodes this season, some parts were definitely slow. Eric is really boring being all nice and lovey. I want his old self back.

Best parts of this was obviously the last 10 minutes and absolutely anything with Pam. I was laughing so loud at her parts. :)

You know, I'm really glad the witches have shown up. Vampires have been acting with impunity for far too damn long. They were practically Villain Sues.

I know... its like the witches are supposed to be the "bad" guys this season or whatever but you can't hate them at all. They are just doing it to get back at all the hate and indignity the vampires have caused them in the past. So its almost as if you want the witches to come out on top. Nah it was perfect to express what I feel for the situation, but it was just my observation.

I only learned from this thread that Ryan Kwanten is Australian. I never would have guessed! He has the accent down better than any of them.

Way too slow, these recent episodes. They've slowed things down a bit too much since last season. They need to know they don't have the quality of character writing to sustain The Wire-like pace.

I can't believe there are only three episodes left. I have no clue how the vamps are going to be able to beat Antonia. She's a very tough enemy. I guess Sookie will have to be the one to do it since vampires are so susceptible to her magic.

So much happened in the last episode! I skipped all the Terry&Andy scenes + Sam's boring sequences. Won't miss Tommy one bit, although it was such a nasty way to kill him off.
I'm glad that Eric finally got his memory back and he's back to being a bad ass, it was sooo needed. Btw I read on the Internet that in the books Eric didn't remember what happened when he had been under the spell and Sookie didn't want to tell him. Now if someone who read the books (there was a poster earlier in this thread) could clarify it would be cool ;)

It would be so annoying if Tara was killed. It's so obvious that the writers only go after the characters that they think people don't like (Tommy, Jesus, Tara).

It's not shocking when a lot of people can see it coming.

Tara ain't dead; the wound could be a serious graze. Sookie's cries will send Eric and Bill runnin' and one of 'em will feed Tara some healing blood. Tara will be all over her feeder and Sookie will be free to love the other.

I just can't quite grasp how Alan Ball went from a masterpiece show about life and death (Six Feet Under) to a vampire cheesefest with bad acting and people acting stupidly all the time

I've seen lots of talk about her coming back as a vampire, and some stuff from the latest trailer seems to support it.

I really hope she isn't one. Tara's tortured enough, and the baby vampire stuff is already covered by Jessica.

Yep she is definitely coming back, I read an interview of hers and she confirms she will be in season 5.

Unfortunately she did not know whether she would come back as human or not. But she admitted that she likes being human and that the show has very few of them.

Steve Newlin loving Jason was just too funny and Queen Jessica house part:worship: Erm Eric sure has a funny way of showing affection to his sister but at least we got to see Alexander down and dirty. Sookie and Alcide bore me but Tara's new Story line takes her too a new level after years of boredom

It's not a typical vampire series and I like how they mix everything in the story from social issues to personal problems and relationships.

That was a fairly average season opener. I was especially annoyed by Tara still being there. If she was annoying as a human she'll be way worse as a vampire. :yawn: I feel like this is going to be another complicated season where they will have a lot of subplots but overall very little will actually happen. :shrug:

I've read all the novels and have literally no idea where the series is taking this. A good thing in a way. The unexpected :)

Chancellor Gainsborough is a nice addition. Girl is absolutely gorgeous. I was :tape: at the brother/sister thing until we found out it was only by Godric. After Game of Thrones, I've seen enough incest on TV lately.

Sam's plot continues to eternally bore me.

And Pam continues to be the best character in the series:

Charlaine was in Chicago at the Romantic Times (RT) Magazine Convention and I was sitting in the lobby between workshops. Ms. Harris had just finished with the booksigning. She plopped down into the chairs next to me and we chatted for a bit. Just about routine stuff--how the signing went, was she going to ComicCon (E2C2) and general stuff before her assistant came and whisked her away. That's all. :)

- fairies having a safe brothel
- the dead parents bit

I mean, I am all for not focusing on just 2 character and having another plotline or two but they are clearly losing it. On top of that, they had to fucking prevent me from seeing Joe naked by Sookie puking over him. :hysteric:
And couldn't they have made it a little more obvious that The Guardian's mistress is behind everything.

I agree there are just too many storylines. Only one I care about is Eric/Bill/Sookie/Alcide/Russell/Nora/Chris Meloni storyline.

THIS. The first 2 seasons I thought the show was absolutely fantastic & I would wait up until early Monday morning to watch the episode but now it's gone so far from it's core it's cringe worthy. Terry's story line is the worst. Even with a great character like Lafayette the writers are falling short. Sookie hasn't been relevant for a years. The only story line I am enjoying is Pam making Tara & if Hoyt will possibly kill jessica. The whole authority/Lilith plot is beyond :rolleyes:: :help:

I like Tara's storyline. But the rest...:help:.

For once I actually like Tara's story, wolf one too-ish!

Yeah I agree the show is now pure camp. The funny thing though is that while the quality if the show has reached new lows, I have to admit it's still entertaining.

It used to be good story telling and entertaining, now it's over the top and redic, BUT I still tune in cuz even though it's silly it's still really entertaining...

Yeah it's as bad as everyone is saying, I agree. But I can't lie I watched every spikes this season and will likely watch next season. It's like a drug, we keep watching chasing that high we had the first season and even though we know it's not possible. At least it can only get better, that's the silver lining.

I agree with you, I was just going to come on and say I disagree with the consensus on here as well. The back end of the season was kind of hilarious and over the top in a good way. In my opinion, these were the best couple of episodes in a long time for this show.

I didn't think it was "bad" per se, I found it pretty entertaining too for some parts, but towards the end it just got really frustrating.

And I always thought season 1 was pretty lights out stuff.

For me, this season was a new low for this once decent show. That didn't feel like a season finale. I just hope next season is the last because they have clearly just run out of ideas. Between this show and the new but awful show The Newsroom HBO is starting to be a bit of a flop. Showtime >>> HBO

I loved the season finale and will be watching next year. :tears: I won't constantly complain about it anymore though because it is what it is: an entertaining, hilarious, smoldering mess of a show.

no, i actually kinda liked it, better than season 3. apart from the lame-ass fairies and their stupid, cheap-looking club with the crap dancers – was that really the best they could do? :facepalm: but as far as the story goes, it wasn't so bad.
