So I've been on a diet now for the past 3 months.. I've lost 40 lbs. I really let myself go at the beginning of this year and I was nearly 200 lbs in May. I immediately went on a diet and I've lost exactly 40 lbs now on a 1,200 calorie diet. But the past week I've been stuck at 148 lbs. :unsure: Because I cannot stop eating. I am starving all the time for high sugar and carbohydrates. :(

What do I do? I want to get to 125-130 lbs. :shrug:

I'm impressed that you've lost so much weight in the past 3 months. I've been trying to lose weigh for the past month and only averaged 3.5 pounds. They always say that the last bit is the hardest to lose. What kind of exercise are you doing?

Well I can't do exercise right now because I am ill with some personal issues. But I do yoga, and I do walk a bit. So yeah, I guess I do do some exercise. I have to wait until my body is strong enough again to exercise like I use to, which should be soon.

What diet are you on? What are you doing to lose weight? 1,200 calorie diet is the way to go. It's the lowest you can go without being unhealthy and malnourished.

what kind of foods do you eat to stay at 1200 calories? I;m in college and trying not to gain weight.

You seem fixated on dieting. Why not toss some exercise in the mix? Commit yourself to a nice daily run and you'll be just fine :) Oh and throw out your weight scale.

I have health disorders and my doctor advised me not to exercise until my body is strong enough. :shrug: Or else I would.

I eat 1 cup of brown rice, fruit, vegetables, lean chicken, and water spread throughout the day.

Are you not supposed to exercise at all? Just walking is a great way to burn fat. I've never been overweight and I thought I was at a relatively stable weight, but as soon as I went to college and started walking everywhere, I lost 15 pounds without changing my diet.

I mean, if you're hungry all the time, that's your body's way of saying, "help me, I'm being undernourished." :unsure:

Well, if you don't want to be hungry all the time try altering what you're eating. Also whenever you eat rice, pasta or noodles drink a lot of water with them and that will bloat you up. You won't need to eat for a while then.

In fact if you're eating a lot of starchy/carbohydrates based foods then drink water whenever you're eating that will help you get full quicker.

Hmm... If you haven't eaten the foods that you have been craving yet, I would recommend just having a little bit. Don't over indulge but you can not completely ignore what you are craving. Also, sometimes when you are on a diet for so long your body starts to plateau at its current weight. You may need to eat something that it a little different to spike your metabolism again. I have followed plans like weight watchers for years and that usually helps me get over the weight plateau.

Great news, after a week at 148.4 lbs, I've dropped down to 146.0 lbs overnight. :banana:

I'm trying to incorporate walking more in my dieting regime (the other aspects just being getting rid of fast food and soda, basically). What's a good distance to walk a day? Does it matter?

I'm glad for you, Kazoo. I want to get to just about where you are now.

You burn 100 calories per mile by walking. A pound of fat equals 3500 calories.

So if you were walking 3 miles a day, and weighing your calories.. I would go with 1,500 calories a day. You will burn off 300 which will equal to 1,200, which is the best way to go if you want to lose weight! :) Are you male or female? How much do you weigh? (if you're comfortable telling)

Here's how you measure..

1,100 calories - 110 lbs
1,200 calories - 120 lbs
1,300 calories - 130 lbs
1,400 calories - 140 lbs
1,500 calories - 150 lbs

So when you are eating that many calories, that is the weight you will eventually reach if you STRICTLY stick to it.

Male, 190 lbs, about 6'1.

Three miles a day...that isn't that bad.

Counting calories though. :eek: That always seemed hard when trying it before...1500 calories doesn't sound like much, but I s'pose that's the point. Thanks for tipping me off what I should be doing, though. :)

Yes you are considered overweight judging by your BMI. =/ Just by one point though. Your's is 25.1

* Underweight = <18.5
* Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
* Overweight = 25-29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

And 1,500 calories isn't that bad at all. :p I could have 5 KFC Honey BBQ sandwiches with that 1,500 calorie limit. :angel: Just aim for 170 then.. 1,700 calories. :) It shouldn't be that hard. ;)

Actually BMI isn't completly right, it doesn't take into consideration if you are working out then having muscles (muscles weight more then fat ;)) or if you are having a bigger bone structure than the average. BMI is a good first reason to look further, but if you consider yourself as sportif, you might need to do another test to know if you are overweight, probably your fat percentage or something.

I don't ever measure my calorie intake, but I am sure it is below the daily 2500 calories that is considered advisable.

I lost a lot of weight too and can relate to your cravings for sweet food at times :lol: But I do allow myself to have them occasionally, only I use it as replacement for lunch or something like that.
