Shoot... Lucie has a possible second round match up with Kuznetsova. :fiery: Lucie beat her first round opponent, Cirstea, the only time they played earlier this year in Miami 61 75.

I actually thought Lucie was on her way out the top 100 and turning into one of those lifetime ITF players, but it has obviously turned around nicely. Like I said in the other thread, I predict a Quarterfinal from her. If there's anything that will get her confidence back, its a title. I think if she can beat Cirstea then she can beat Kuzzy. If she loses to Cirstea then she probably needs to continue building on her confidence. I hope to see her vs. Kuzzy on TV because I'm interested if since the Olympics she has changed her game or not.

In FITD I predicted one of my favorites to win, one to get to the 4th round, and the other two to get to the QFs... :help:. I've been lucky so far so I figured why the hell not.

I hope you picked Petra to go to the QF. :fiery:

Anyway, it is a nasty draw that she will have to be playing very well just to get a set but for once I actually believe in her. She sounded very confident and happy in that interview and it can only lead to good things in her tennis. I am looking forward to the next couple of months, so she better not blow it. :o

She did beat Cirstea 6-1 7-5 earlier this year in Miami when she was playing horribly so that is a good sign. However Sorana just made the QF of New Haven with a good win over Flavia Pennetta so she will be confident too. She has also reportedly been working with Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, and Gil Reyes so who knows what will happen. I just hope Lucka gives a good account of herself and plays confidently because when she does, she is very hard to beat.

I didn't know that about Cirstea.

Good luck to Lucka! Yes, confidence is the key.

Lucie just lost the first set 6-4, though she broke Cirstea to start the match.

She just had Cirstea 0-30 on her first service game of the second, but Sorana won the game. Yikes...not looking good.

Come ON Lucie!

GO LUCIE GO!! :help:

I lied, 5-4 for Lucie. My scoreboard got messed up. I think Cirstea led 40-0 in that service game though.

Cirstea did lead 40-0 in that game, but Lucie won the set 6-4!!! :woohoo:

This type of scoreline feels like the Lucie of old. Lucie of earlier this year would not even come close to winning the second set.

CRAP. Lucie is down 0-3 in the third after having break points in the first game. :(

She broke back for 2-3! :woohoo:

Okay now 2007 Lucie would hold here. 2008 Lucie would be broken. 2007 Lucie please come back. :hysteric:

She lost 6-2 in the third.

Apparently I'm not such good luck as all my favorites struggled today.

Still not much consistency. :( No points to defend for almost a year though, so she can only go up.

At least she didn't lose in straight sets, that's a progress.

What is wrong with her? Where is the Lucie of the first few months of 2007? Where has that form gone? :(

I MET LUCIE!!!

She was at the US Open and after her doubles loss to Garrigues and Ruano Pascual, I went up and talked to her. She was EXTREMELY nice. I was awed. She is very, very, very shy, but kind. I asked to take a photo with her, but the guy who took two photos of us put his finger over the lens! I was so angry. But then I asked Lucie a little later (like a minute or two) if she could take another photo and she said she'd love to. She was great. :) :)
