Alizé beat Srebotnik 7-6(3) 4-6 6-2! :D :yeah: ;)

Very good win for her. :)
Now she plays Hantuchova who she's 0-2 against, but given their form as of late, Alizé should win.

Good luck!

Excellent win :yeah:. We also should mention that Alizé scored 10 aces, looks like there are some serious work achieved on her serve! This break that she took to prepare Beijing was really worthwhile since she has finally some references on hard courts. Wins over Vaidisova & Srebotnik really impress me as both hit harder than Alizé. I'm looking forward to discover how Alizé has adapted her game. I wasn't there to watch tennis during OG, I was delighted to learn that she really bothered Serena!

Bravo for all this, Alizé :worship:.
Good luck against Daniela, shouldn't be that hard! Allez!

Alize is strong favourite, but...I think Daniela might be in her head...

10 aces? What about 9dfs, poor % of service, pathetic stats on 2nd service?
Actually I think she still hav a lot of work on her service...Actually I think her serve was a thing wich caused her a lot of trouble yesterday...

Generally cool tournament, 3 1990 girls has a chance for semis...:yeah:

Looks like you're right about her serve. Alizé cannot hold :help:. Her first serve percentage is terrible today! Down 36.
On a side note, Alizé potentially has Daniela as a 3rd round opponent in the US Open draw. She has to improve this H2H!

A really great effort from Alizé to turn the match around! :yeah:

Now a 1990 battle with Woznaicki in the semifinals.

Alize played pretty well today. Especially when she held at 3-3 in the second set before the medical timeout. That game probably sparked her to win the match! Well done Alize! :)

Interesting article from the SEWTA Tour website:

On the bottom half of the draw it will be two 18-year-olds squaring off in the semifinals, after Alizé Cornet and Caroline Wozniacki both put on impressive performances in their respective afternoon quarterfinals. Cornet, the No.7 seed this week, was the first to advance, battling past No.2 seed Hantuchova in two hours and 17 minutes, 36 64 64.

"I didn't play my best level today, but I just tried to keep fighting the whole match," Cornet said. "Daniela is a really, really good player, and if I won without playing my best, that's a very good win for me. If I play better tomorrow I think I'll get to the final, so that's the goal."

Wozniacki followed with a 64 60 upset of No.3 seed Marion Bartoli. Wozniacki has now beaten Bartoli in straight sets in all three of their career meetings, having beaten her 62 63 at Doha and 63 61 at Miami, both earlier this year.

"Everything was just going my way today," Wozniacki said. "Maybe my game doesn't suit her game. There are always some players you don't want to meet. I'm fighting for every point and running everything down, and I don't think she likes it. But every match is different - you go on the court and it's 0-0, and you never know what's going to happen. Hopefully I can continue this way, but you never know."

"Caroline reminds me a little bit of Hingis, but more powerful," Bartoli said. "She's a great mover and sees the ball very early, like Martina used to. But she has better pace, especially on her serve. She's really consistent and doesn't give you any free points. You have to earn every point. And this is her best surface."

Cornet and Wozniacki are 1-1 in the professionals, with Wozniacki winning in straight sets at an ITF Women's Circuit event last year but Cornet winning in straight sets at the US Open in the late summer.

"Caroline is a very good player," Cornet said. "We've known each other since we were 11. We played our first match together when we were 11. We're the same age. Hopefully my leg will be okay because I'll need to do a lot of running. We know each other really well."

"We've grown up together," Wozniacki said. "We played so many times in the juniors and twice last year. She's a really good player. It's going to be a tough match. We always have tough matches. But we'll see - I'm just happy I won today, and we'll see what happens tomorrow."

By the way, if they played against each other , why any of them couldn't said who usually was better? Makiri before match with Chaky at AO said that she was always better, why Alize (or Caro? ) couldn't say it also?

Because they obviously have the respect for each other's game to know that either one of them can win the match. They have grown up playing against each other and I'm sure that they wouldn't want to say something that would offend the other and then come back and bite them in the butt.

Excellent Alizé :yeah:. Indeed it's interesting to know that Alizé can produce tennis that is worth of top 20 on hard court. Hope she has figured out how to play Daniela since they may play again in the US Open. This leg is worrying me a bit, Flushing Meadows is more important than New Haven, it wouldn't be a bad idea to not push her limits too far.

Hope she beats Caroline, this should be a nice test!
