Did she change her technique ? From the matches I saw at the Olympics I felt she's putting far less spin than before. It almost looks like a regular , "old fashioned" forehand. She uses angles more also. As a result she makes fewer unforced errors with her forhand, her usual weakness when she's in a bad day. I found it interesting.

Yeah, I think Serena is hitting the ball more the way she did in 2003 like during the 2003 Australian Open. Back in 2003 she was hitting the sweet spot a lot on her racquet and hitting the ball pretty flat, which she's doing now in 2008. Back in 2007 during the Australian Open, the spin she put her forehand actually helped her win. It all depends on how Serena's feeling. :)

Depends. She hits it hard when it works, and hits it with spin if she doesn't get her strokes over the net. But she always plays with spin when she hits straight shots, and without spin when she hits cross forehands.

But really, it's relative, from any other camera angle, it will look different.

I also see that she is hitting with less spin. Less spin gives her less net clearance but pays off because it says low and is hit REALLY hard.

The flattest I have seen Serena hit on the forehand was the Australian Open 2007 final. She hit it so flat. Then again, it all comes down to footwork. If she isn't lazy and takes that extra step, she could hit her forehand with more pace and accuracy while maintaining consistancy.
