Just goes to show that the last match was decided by Jelena's nerves of steel :o When there is no pressure she wins. I think she is using the Clijsters tactic. Always 'injured' and supposed to lose. Easy way to take pressure off.

As usual JJ has the hardest draw and if she is to win must beat the two best players in this tournament, Safina and Venus (or Na if only she can get through which for JJ could be even tougher). Anyway, I think that if she can beat Safina she has a great chance as Venus is not a big problem for her.

bodan
Aug 13th, 2008, 03:15 PM
Moonballs were there because of Cibulkova's height..

Completely agree. One shot moonball, the next one flat and hard.
The strategy worked out pretty well.

Congrats JJ. :yeah:

Only saw the second set. I see more and more players will resort to giving Cibulkova high balls to take her off her game. The Slovak also seemed to be pooped in that set and made some bad UEs.

I thought she would give JJ more problems but the Serb played smart tennis from what I saw. :yeah:

That said, udachi Safina. :p

A good win for Jelena, but all these moonballs for the #1 player in the World are a little ridicolous.

it was a chance for her to take a breath....she used it good. Dominika was breathing hard after every point. On the other side jelena was pretty cool. She needs to walk Safina around in the next match...but short balls and moonballing is not gonna help her...

She's the deserving #1 because she beat Cibulkova to make the Olympic Games quarterfinals? Wow. We really are setting low standards for #1 these days, aren't we. I still don't get it. Nothing is proven, except that JJ will be the worst #1 in history.

At least she didn't lose any body parts out there. I know a lot of us were scared.

Naughty Davenport fan ... raining on our little parade :smash:

Extra homework for you tonight.
Memorise the following words from the English dictionary.

Whiner
a person, especially a child, who complains or expresses disatisfaction continually.

Of course a Jankovic fan knows the exact definition of whining.

What did JJ say today in her post match interview? Did she overcome a shoulder injury, leg injury, fever, and humidity all at the same time? But is she hanging on by a thread for her next match? Oh, okay.

WTF? Clijsters was always injured. There were so many times where she tooks weeks/months off. Her game style was too aggressive and hard on her body.
