:bigcry: awful performance aga according to stats, so many UEs....

aga has sp in the second at her own serve @ 6-5 in the tiebreak, she was also leading 6-5 in the 2nd set and serving, but got broken to love :o

go to U.S. and prepare for the USO now, but to make it up for this kind of sad surprise for the polish people (after all this delusional talk about a medal) you will have to win this slam :tape:

Francesca played her regular and Agnieszka was very poor. Playing that level you can't win even with mediocre player. Aga was serving badly, her volley didn't work. If u are at Olympics, u have to play your maximum, and this was good for tournament in Kielce [small polish town]. With all due respect to Kielce. Why was Aga playing that bad? I have no idea, women's psyche is inscrutable.

Aug 12th, 2008, 07:06 AM
such things unfortunately sometimes happen

Aga was playing badly today so it must have ended like that. Nevermind, Olimpics tennis competition is not that important, however I really hate the 2008 edition :o I'm pretty sure Jelena will lose in 3r round to make me hate this Olimpics even more.

Aga  At least you will have more time to fully recover from your injury and prepare for the USO

BTW, Aga was so angry after the last point, that she even threw her racqet, which is not really common for her

Oh, Aga. But never mind, she will rest more before US Open.:) I think that injury could be a potencial reason of her lost match. She didn't train a lot. It was enough for Chan, but not for Schiavone.

Congrats to Schiavone, good performance what shocked me as she was losing everything after French Open :)

the saddest thing is that it was neither her finger nor temperature. There is none to blame but Aga... maybe except for her father/coach, whose unnecessary, misogynistic comments really pissed me off (he said later today, that she lost because she is a woman). I would rather he looked for real reasons of this loss as his work is.

What's up with that? So he was insinuating Fran is a man? Not cool. :(

If he were to say Aga lost because she was playing someone who annoyingly grunts when the ball is on her opponent's side of the court, then he'd have a leg to stand on. :tape:

I love Aga and I'm not a Fran fan. But it's true: Schiavone really turns it up a notch when she plays for Italy. Plus, she's notched some bigger wins in her career than a win over Aga.

Weirdly, Fran owns Aga. She's now won all 3 times they played.

I don't know what the hell was up with Aga in the second set. She really blew it. :tape:

I hope she gets over to the US quick and adjusts to the new time zone before playing New Haven. At least she's looking better than the other top seed there, Szavay. But doing better than Agi  this year isn't saying much.

wow radwanska's so called fans are soooo harsh on her . its not a terrible loss, schiavone has had bigger wins than this in her career and as mentioned, always plays well when she represents italy.

well done fran, i hope she can reach the semis :)

No, he was only saying that women's psyche (so also Agas one) is inscrutable, so he doesn't know why Aga played so badly.

I hope she gets over to the US quick and adjusts to the new time zone before playing New Haven. At least she's looking better than the other top seed there, Szavay.

when I saw this result I was like "what the hell?"
5 secunds later I said oh well... happens, it's not that big a deal.
You guys, especially Poles are totally overreacting. You read our stupid newspapers and believe in everything ->
Our hopes for medals:
Gruchała, Radwańska, the swimmers, volleyball and handball players, Blanik (gimnastics) and so on...
Now Gruchała sucked and lost, Aga lost, women's volleball team loses 2matches. Gimme a break, these are just people like you and me! Can't stand the pressure or had a bad day and the fight for medal is over. You guys should take it easy and not expect too much, then every medal would be a nice surprise :) Even Blanik asked not to put a pressure on him although he's a favourite alongside Romanian Dragulescu. He wants to remain calm because one small mistake and you're out.
On the other hand look at those whom you didn't pay attention to -> Dariusz Popiela or Sagun-Lewandowska, we know next to nothing about them and suddenly they were close to top 3. That happens when you know you're not a favourite and nobody cares about you, especially in Poland...

Now the sad truth: Poland will never be a hub of a universe in sport so you'd better sit in front of tv and enjoy watching the games :wavey:

Brava Francesca! :)

i don't know why u connected our disappointment with other polish olympics players' losses. i totally don't care about popiela sagun-lewandowska, whoever they are. and whether "we" collect 187 medals or 0, it is of no big importance to me. what's relevant is that aga lost terribly with worse player in an important tourney, after giving us hopes that she can make semifinal. This was the only medal that would matter, really.

and second thing is that some of us are getting worried that here comes another "worse period" in her career

I wanted to critisize all the Poles, because if a sportsman wins - everyhing's fine, however if he/she loses that the bashing begins... The same was here with Aga. "OMG how could you lose!!" Shame!! and so on... btw I'm surpirsed noone asked Aga to retire
Looking at her 1st match when she fall 1:5 to Chan (no offence) it was obvious that she's not at her best and Shiavone won't be a piece of cake, especially knowing that Francesca plays differently than Sharapova, Kuznetsova or other hard hitters.

aga lost terribly Terribly? Oh c'mon. Marta lost terribly (AGAIN) against one of the weirdest player in womens tennis (read. Pironkova)

and second thing is that some of us are getting worried that here comes another "worse period" in her career
And you say it after one tournament? Please... Even if she loses early in US she's still having a great season winning 3 tournaments, reaching 2QFs, 4r in Grand Slam and career high #9. Aga'll be fine

p.s. for me being disappoited isn't equal to bashing and thing like that.
p.s.2 I don't want to argue ;)
