Are there any? The Olympics aren't listed on the points breakdown sheet on the WTA website. I know there are points for the ATP but it doesn't make sense for for the WTA not to award any.

I assume championship (race ranking) points are awarded too?

There really shouldn't be any points. This is a team event.

I disagree about this being a team event. Each player is still playing a singles match to win the Gold or a medal?? I mean if you reach a certain round then you should get ranking points based on that. Imho. Venus and Serena are not playing as a team during their singles matches to get a Gold.

IS this right? Didnt Henin get 453 in 04? for winning? And yes their should be points awarded at least in the current format.. IMO they should switch it to a team progression ala FEd cup style IMO (which could also boost FED cup in general) but with the current format

Yes Points should be awarded especially if you think about the fact that the OLympics USopen/ Wimbledon are all so close... you risk Injury playing all three and then those players who actually Play other tournies... if their were no points awarded the attendance of players could be even worse...

Look at Roddick who basically chose not to play because lets face it he knew he wasnt gonna win so he tried to take advantage of a week field in another Tournament and STILL ended up losing...(a little ramble at the end:lol:)

After 52 weeks, like usual.

i think it would be great if it was hopman cup style format, team of 2 of the best players from each country...no? womens and mens events will be seperate...i think it makes medal contention slightly farer, and makes it more as a representation of your country.

You can see it here: http://www.itftennis.com/olympics/event/ranking.asp

In 2004 Justine got 248 points.
